Rhode Island has banned New Yorkers, not just Yankees fans, but everyone from the state because of coronavirus. In an effort to make this the most ridiculous pandemic-related thing yet, the Governor of Rhode Island has activated the National Guard to go door-to-door looking for New Yorkers. In the state it is now an arrestable offense to be from New York.
U.S. News & World Reports says that Rhode Island is cracking down on New Yorkers:
The Rhode Island National Guard will go door to door in coastal communities starting Saturday to ask people if they are visiting from New York and informing them of Rhode Island’s mandatory 14-day quarantine for people from there, Gov. Gina Raimondo said Friday.
The measure, while extreme, is necessary because the New York City area is the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. and is needed to control its spread, she said.
People who break the order faces fines and even arrest for subsequent violations, the Democratic governor said.
Rhode Island police are also pulling over anyone with NY plates.
How precisely will the National Guard determine if someone is from New York? Is there some kind of field test they will administer? Maybe they’ll ask them to pronounce the following words: coffee, sausage, Derek Jeter. Anyone responding “JEETAH” gets a golden apple pined on them, thrown on a train, and it’s off to the camps.
It’s amazing how quickly liberals descend into fascism, isn’t it? It’s only been a couple of weeks and the left is already emulating Nazi Germany by sending shock troops door-to-door to round up the “undesirables.”
To put this into perspective, Rhode Island is a sanctuary state that refuses to comply with federal immigration officials and offers a safe haven for illegal alien criminals. They won’t do a damn thing about foreign lawbreaking scum, but they will round up all of those damn New Yorkers and send them packing.
If banning New Yorkers seems illegal and highly unconstitutional, that’s because it is. Even the ACLU, who usually only gives a shit about crackhead transgender terrorist rapists, has a problem with this Rhode Island pogrom:
“While the Governor may have the power to suspend some state laws and regulations to address this medical emergency, she cannot suspend the Constitution. Under the Fourth Amendment, having a New York state license plate simply does not, and cannot, constitute ‘probable cause’ to allow police to stop a car and interrogate the driver, no matter how laudable the goal of the stop may be,” said ACLU of Rhode Island executive director Steven Brown.
For her part, Governor Raimondo thinks everything is copacetic and even threw President Trump under the bus:
The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island on Thursday questioned the constitutionality of pulling over vehicles for no other reason than having a New York plate.
But Raimondo said Friday she has consulted with lawyers and is in line with White House and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
I can assure this crazy bitch that neither President Trump nor the CDC has recommended sending armed troops door-to-door to round up New Yorkers. Maybe she’s confusing CDC guidelines with something she read in Mein Kampf.
