Crazy Dude Tries To Sink Navy Hospital Ship With A Train

On March 19, when Los Angeles got put on lockdown, I predicted it would be 2 weeks before people started going crazy. Nobody does crazy like LA and coronavirus crazy just makes it worse. 2 weeks exactly, to the day, after I predicted widespread insanity in La La Land, a dude rain a locomotive off the tracks in an attempt to sink the U.S.N.S Mercy hospital ship docked in the port of Los Angeles. And the reason why he did it is because he thinks the ship is up to no good. Beat that SF and NYC.

President Trump had the Mercy Navy hospital ship moved to Los Angeles and her sister ship the Comfort to NYC to offer beds to non-coronavirus patients so the cities can free-up space to deal with the pandemic. Liberals are already complaining that the Navy hospital ships aren’t taking coronavirus patients, but that’s craziness for another story.

ABC 7 reports this craziness involves 44-year-old engineer Eduardo Moreno, who purposefully rain his train off the tracks in an attempt to sink the Mercy.

The Pacific Harbor Line train derailed Tuesday, running through the end of the track and crashing through barriers, finally coming to rest about 250 yards from the docked naval ship.

The train crashed into a concrete barrier at the end of the track, smashed through a steel barrier and a chain-link fence, slid through one parking lot and then a second lot filled with gravel and hit a second chain-link fence. It came to rest after passing under a ramp leading to the Vincent Thomas Bridge. The train remained in that position Wednesday.

No one was hurt, including Moreno, and he obviously didn’t come close to hitting the Mercy. When cops arrived, he readily admitted that he derailed the train because he was trying to sink the hospital ship. He further elaborated that he was “suspicious” of the ship and didn’t think it was there for the reason given to the public.

He basically believed himself to be a whistleblower, alerting the public to something or other.

“You only get this chance once. The whole world is watching. I had to. People don’t know what’s going on here. Now they will,” said Moreno.

I’m sure his engine was equipped with a whistle, which would technically make him a whistleblower, but this train derailment plot just makes him a crazy person.

Speaking of which, CNN has some additional details that make this dude look even less sane:

Moreno said he derailed the train because it would bring media attention, the affidavit said, and he hoped to “wake people up.”

The affidavit also detailed videos taken from inside the train. In one, Moreno ignites a road flare inside the train, the affidavit said. He then “put the train in full speed and held his hand toward the camera with his middle finger raised.”

The only thing that would make this better is if he were naked, except for a sombrero, and doing bong hits with a chihuahua. Okay, maybe “better” is the wrong word, but it would have made it funnier.

Moreno said he didn’t plan this in advance and that his brilliant plan just came to him.

“I don’t know. Sometimes you just get a little snap and man, it was fricking exciting… I just had it and I was committed. I just went for it, I had one chance,” Moreno said.

YOLO!

For some reason, with all of this insanity, the thing I think is the craziest is that he actually thought his plan to sink the ship was doable. He is a train engineer so presumably he is familiar with the capabilities of the vehicle and yet he had no idea that trains don’t go very far off the tracks. He though he could run the train off the tracks, plow it through several hundred yards of construction site, and fly it off the pier into the hull of a ship. And that he’d have enough momentum going to sink the ship.

It’s only been 2 weeks since Angelenos have been ordered to stay at home and LA already has a guy trying to crash a train into a Navy hospital ship. Things are only going to get worse before they get better and since this is Los Angeles, things are never going to get better.
