On Sunday, The New York Times breathlessly reported that many “Republicans” were supporting Joe Biden rather than President Trump. One of those the Times claimed had flipped to the Biden camp was former president George W. Bush. As it turns out, the NYT made this up out of thin air because Bush has never said he wouldn’t support Trump’s reelection campaign.
Here’s what the NYT published on Sunday:
Former President George W. Bush won’t support the re-election of Mr. Trump, and Jeb Bush isn’t sure how he’ll vote, say people familiar with their thinking. Senator Mitt Romney of Utah won’t back Mr. Trump and is deliberating whether to again write in his wife, Ann, or cast another ballot this November. And Cindy McCain, the widow of Senator John McCain, is almost certain to support Mr. Biden but is unsure how public to be about it because one of her sons is eying a run for office.
On Tuesday The Texas Tribune had a slightly different thing to report:
Freddy Ford, a spokesman for Bush, told The Texas Tribune that Bush would steer clear of speaking publicly on his presidential vote and called The New York Times assertion false.
“This is completely made up. He is retired from presidential politics and has not indicated how he will vote,” said Ford in an e-mail.
Confounding the NYT narrative that the Bush family is in Joe Biden’s camp is this report from The Dallas Morning News:
Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush — son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of former President George W. Bush — told The Dallas Morning News that he will cast a ballot for Trump, reaffirming the support he gave to the billionaire in the 2016 election.
“President Trump is the only thing standing between America and socialism,” said Low Energy Jeb’s son.
George P. also said he plans to formally endorse President Trump’s election campaign.
“Even in a global pandemic where we have had to take unprecedented measures to protect public health, the economy is already returning. It’s clear, America and Texas will continue to be stronger than ever,” Bush said.
Oh well, the liberals still have Mitt Romney, Cindy McCain, and Colin Powell as “Republicans” who are voting for Biden. Of course, all three of these people are Republicans In Name Only (RINOs) and have never been strong supporters of the Republican Party before Trump came along.
John McCain was the biggest RINO the U.S. Senate ever saw, siding with democrats on nearly everything, earning him the nickname “The Maverick.” It’s not a rebellious to call yourself a Republican when you’re actually a democrat, its just dishonest. His wife Cindy is no different.
Mitt Romney has been a socialized medicine gun control liberal since he was Governor of Massachusetts. He’s butthurt that Trump was so easily able to win the presidency when he failed so miserably. There isn’t a Republican in Utah who does want his or her vote back for putting this chump in the Senate.
Colin Powell has endorsed the following people for president: 2008 Barack Obama, 2012 Barack Obama, 2016 Hillary Clinton, and now 2020 Joe Biden. How is this guy a Republican when he has nearly 2 decades of endorsing democrats?
In reality, The New York Times’ big scoop is that 3 people who were never really Republicans in the first place are still not really Republicans. Take that Trump!
