Ohio just passed a Stand Your Ground law that reaffirms the people’s right to defend themselves against violent criminals. Under SYG, a person has no duty to retreat when faced with a life-threatening situation. In other words, they can use deadly force if necessary to save their own lives. Hollywood liberal gun hypocrite Elizabeth Banks thinks that it’s bullshit that people in Ohio are now “allowed” to defend their lives.
Nothing “proves” a liberal gun control talking point more than an apples-to-oranges made-up anecdote, so here is actress Elizabeth Banks attempting to discredit armed self-defense:

All of a sudden, an arrow was shot into the tree behind which we hid. From a professional bow and arrow. This guy didn’t yell out “who’s there” or “get off my property or I’m calling the cops” or any other question or warning. /3

He just shot at children. He hit the tree so it was seemingly a warning shot. Message received, WE yelled out that we were just playing and could he let us please run away without shooting. Then we ran. /4

Also sometimes our dog got loose. We would go into yards looking for her. All I can think about when people pretend Stand Your Ground is about anything other than permission to kill people are those moments when I myself stepped onto a neighbor’s property /5

This almost certainly never happened, but let’s humor her to point out how this has absolutely nothing to do with laws that protect the right of self-defense, shall we? The only person pretending Stand Your Ground is anything other than an affirmation of that right is Banks.
In this fictitious scenario, with or without SYG, a person shooting children with a bow and arrow outside of his or her house would be charged with a crime. The thing about SYG is that there must be a reasonable assumption that a person’s life is at risk before deadly force can be used. Children playing hide and seek is not something that law enforcement or the courts would consider a reasonable threat.
Banks continued this anti-gun idiocy by claiming that she has all of the facts on the matter:

Not a single neighbor, dog, or kids was shot in any of those cases, just a bunch of criminal scumbags who threatened the lives of armed citizens. Also, no bow and arrow was used in any of those justified uses of self-defense.
Liberals like Banks want to mischaracterize Stand Your Ground as a license to shoot and kill unarmed innocent people, but obviously that’s a lie. They do this because they hate guns and love scumbags because the only group who benefits from weak self-defense laws are criminals.
