Joe Biden ran for president on basically one platform: that Donald Trump had bungled the coronavirus pandemic response and that he would “shut down” the virus on day one. Well, it’s past day one and the virus hasn’t been shut down as promised. In fact, Biden is lowering the bar and moving the goalposts because now he says there is nothing he can do to change the trajectory of the virus.
On day one of his illegitimate presidency, Joe Biden issued a mask mandate, that he promptly violated, and that was about it on his big plans to kick coronavirus’ ass. On day two, Biden admitted defeat:
President Biden urges Congress to pass more COVID relief:

“As this pandemic rages on,” said Biden. “There’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.”
The least amount of months “several months” can refer to is 3, which means Biden is saying he can’t do a damn thing to slow the spread of COVID-19 at east until May. That’s a far cry from his promises to kung-fu the kung-flu by getting the virus under control:
If I’m elected president, I won’t waste a minute getting this virus under control. Here’s how I’ll do it: https://t.co/NoPsQ0FDV8

This health team is made up of world-class experts at the top of their fields who are ready on day one to get the pandemic under control so we can get back to work, back to our lives, and back to our loved ones. pic.twitter.com/acwVxRQS6x

We have no time to waste when it comes to getting this virus under control and building our economy back better. Tune in as I announce my American Rescue Plan. https://t.co/4YAg0nhJMn
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) January 15, 2021
Getting the virus “under control” now means “there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic.”
He also promised to beat this virus:
We are the United States of America. We can beat this virus.
There is no challenge we cannot meet, no enemy we cannot face, no threat we cannot conquer when we stand together.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) October 28, 2020
I spent the morning with the co-chairs of my COVID-19 Council discussing the status of this pandemic and how we move forward. Tune in as I provide an update on how we’re going to beat this virus. https://t.co/VVGHZNnUFY

Folks, I just received the second dose of my COVID-19 vaccine — and just like the first dose, it was safe, quick, and painless.
I urge everyone to get vaccinated once it’s your turn. Because only together can we save lives and beat this virus. pic.twitter.com/w1m8gEh2iL
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) January 11, 2021
He then said he was going to shut down the virus:
Right now, Congress should come together and pass a COVID relief package like the HEROES Act that the House passed six months ago. Once we shut down the virus and deliver economic relief to workers and businesses, then we can build back better than ever before.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) November 16, 2020
I’m not going to shut down the country.
I’m not going to shut down the economy.
I’m going to shut down the virus.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) October 30, 2020
I’m going to shut down the virus, not the country.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) October 23, 2020
And he promised to beat the virus, get it under control, and shut it down on day one:
From COVID-19 and the economy to climate change and racial justice — our nation is facing four historic crises at once. And come January, there will be no time to waste. That’s why my team and I are hard at work preparing to take action on day one.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) December 27, 2020
I need a team that’s ready on day one to contain the pandemic and ensure everyone has access to quality, affordable health care. This is that team. Tune in as I introduce them for the first time. https://t.co/FhbbTa7xEo
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) December 8, 2020
As president, I will:
– Call for nationwide mask mandates
– Implement widespread testing
– Accelerate the development of treatments and vaccinesI’m ready to work on day one to contain the spread of this virus and get our country back on track.
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) September 5, 2020
“Day one” has been amended to “several months from now” maybe. Biden reserves the right to change that “much later” or “not at all.”
Even democrats admit that if it weren’t for the coronavirus pandemic, Joe Biden wouldn’t have been elected president. Sure, they cooked the books in key states to steal the election for Biden, but how many less people would have voted for him if he was honest about his ability to beat, shut down, and get COVID-19 under control?
