I assume you were all aware of that, but this is different. I need computer help!
I recently was hired for a work at home tech support job. This company shall remain nameless for now.
Anyway, they installed a bunch of software on my PC. After the fact, I found one program called, “Digital Guardian Agent” to be particularly invasive. According to it’s website It can do, among other things,
Digital Guardian User Activity Monitoring offers complete user visibility and control regardless of what users are running, what they’re running it on – whether or not they’re on the network. You can audit, monitor, limit and report on all end-user activity in real-time, and also perform investigative tasks. Our solution classifies, categorizes and tags sensitive data so every action is tracked and accounted for – providing a detailed audit trail that can aid investigations.
Once I found out that it also disabled my Nord VPN and AVG Anti-Virus programs, I quit.
I uninstalled everything they put on my machine but this one program. Why? Because it requires an uninstallation key to do it.
I’ve written to two people at this company and requested that this spyware be removed from my computer. The first person said it would be removed after I was “processed out of our system.” They sent me an “exit survey” on the 29th on which I asked for this crap to be uninstalled or to provide me with the key to do it myself. No response. I wrote back to the first person. No response. I wrote to the second person. No response.
I’ve tried everything I can think of. DOS commands, starting Windows in safe mode, restore points . . . it won’t let me touch any files related to it. In fact I am not even the administrator of my own PC anymore!
I’ve considered just reformatting my hard drive, but I’m wary that some of my personal files will disappear. I know just removing the fucking HD would work, but that would mean losing all my programs in addition to the ones they have STOLEN from me.
I know a lot of you are tech savvy. Can any of you provide a solution to this problem for me?
Thank you.
