Biden’s Border Catastrophe: Children Stuffed In Tents, Not Allowed To Shower For Days

Less than two months into his presidency and Joe Biden’s open borders stance is already a disaster as the enormous influx of refugees from Latin America has overwhelmed the ability to process them.

The growing humanitarian catastrophe of allowing tens of thousands of foreigners into the country at a time when great progress has been made in reducing COVID infections lays bare the peril of allowing liberal ideologues to set policy and it’s getting worse by the day.

Suffering the most from the administration’s failures are the children who have been packed into overcrowded tents, forced to sleep on the floor, and not being able to shower for days; in addition, according to activist attorneys, they have been kept away from their parents and relatives which only adds to their trauma.

The miserable conditions for the children and the lack of outrage has exposed the sheer hypocrisy of a media and Democrat politicians who wailed in outrage about “kids in cages” and “concentration camps” when President Trump was in the White House but have remained largely silent even as the youngsters are kept in conditions worse than they were under the previous administration.

According to an Associated Press report on just one processing facility in Texas, there are concerns about the children being exposed to COVID because they are packed in so tightly together.

Hundreds of immigrant children and teenagers have been detained at a Border Patrol tent facility in packed conditions, with some sleeping on the floor because there aren’t enough mats, according to nonprofit lawyers who conduct oversight of immigrant detention centers.

The lawyers interviewed more than a dozen children Thursday in Donna, Texas, where the Border Patrol is holding more than 1,000 people. Some of the youths told the lawyers they had been at the facility for a week or longer, despite the agency’s three-day limit for detaining children. Many said they haven’t been allowed to phone their parents or other relatives who may be wondering where they are.

Despite concerns about the coronavirus, the children are kept so closely together that they can touch the person next to them, the lawyers said. Some have to wait five days or more to shower, and there isn’t always soap available, just shampoo, according to the lawyers.

Unlike when Trump was in office, there have been no congressional delegations with the media tagging along, no trips to border facilities for photo ops by the likes of Alexandria Cortez, and what seems to be a general indifference to children who Dems appear to be content with allowing to suffer in quiet desperation now that their party controls the White House.

How bad is it? Even CNN has been forced to report on the deplorable situation.

The AP report adds; “President Joe Biden’s administration denied the lawyers access to the tent facility. During the administration of former President Donald Trump, attorney visits to Border Patrol stations revealed severe problems, including dozens of children held at one rural station without adequate food, water, or soap.”

One attorney called out Biden’s lack of communication: “It is pretty surprising that the administration talks about the importance of transparency and then won’t let the attorneys for children set eyes on where they’re staying, I find that very disappointing.”

The chance that the new administration will act decisively to get the border crisis under control is practically nonexistent now that the Democrats have to deliver on their campaign promises of unfettered immigration or risk a backlash in the 2020 midterm elections.
