Elizabeth Warren knows a little something about racism, not just because she spent most of her life pretending to be an Indian princess but also her status as a democrat. In an anti-filibuster rant, the Massachusetts Senator unintentionally proved the racism of the democratic party’s history of racism as well as their current racism.
Democrats from illegitimate president Joe Biden on down are pushing to get rid of the filibuster, which allows the minority party to block legislation in the Senate. They say this procedure is rooted in racism and is a “relic of the Jim Crow era.” It is very convenient that they want to get rid of this now that Republicans are the minority party and could stop their radical agenda.
Elizabeth Warren made this spiffy video to point out just how racist the filibuster is:

“Here’s what it is and here’s why it stinks,” said Warren of the filibuster.
She explained that the filibuster was introduced in 1806 as a way for Senators to block the agenda of the majority party.
“Senator John Calhoun realized he could exploit this rule change to seize more power for Southern slave-holding states by filibustering,” Warren said.
Narrator: John Calhoun and all of the Southern slave-holding Senators were democrats.
“An anti-lynching bill was introduced. A small group of Senators hell-bent on upholding white supremacy, decided to flex the new rule and filibuster the legislation,” cried Warren.
Fact-check: The Dyer Anti-Lynching Bill was introduced by a Republican and was killed by a filibuster from the Southern Democratic Bloc in the Senate.
“During the Job Crow era, Southern Senators continued to use the filibuster to as a tool to block civil rights legislation and only civil rights legislation,” said Warren.
Warren showed a picture of Strom Thurmond, who was a democrat at the time he and other Southern democrats filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Warren then showed a graph of how the filibuster has been used more frequently in recent years, falsely blaming it on Republicans.
“Today the filibuster is more common than ever and Mitch McConnell can used it as a veto on almost any bill democrats want to pass,” claimed Warren.
Fact-check: Democrats used the filibuster 327 times in 2020. Republicans used it once in that same year.
Narrator: Elizabeth Warren filibustered black Republican Senator Tim Scott’s Justice Act of 2020, a justice reform bill that would have helped communities of color.
“When a minority has this much control voters are silenced. We need to get rid of the filibuster to keep our democracy,” Warren finished.
Democrats created the filibuster to uphold white supremacy, used it to block civil rights legislation, and abused it to preserve slavery and Jim Crow. Now they say it needs to go because it stops them from advancing their agenda. I’m not sure that’s the sales pitch Warren was going for: “We’re racists so we should have absolute power.”
All of the examples Warren gave for why the filibuster should be eliminated involve democrats exploiting the rule to push their racist agenda. The filibuster isn’t a relic of the Jim Crow era, the democratic party is. Wouldn’t it make more sense to get rid of democrats?
