2 brothers in Texas killed their entire family and then committed suicide in part because they were disappointed with the TV series The Office. As if that wasn’t ridiculous enough, before pulling off the mass murder/suicide they mocked the gun laws of the state, claiming it was too easy for them to acquire the firearms they used. They were probably telling the truth that The Office sucked, but they straight up lied about Texas gun law.
The NY Post reports that brothers 19-year-old Farhan and 21-year-old Tanvir Towhid shot their mother, father, sister, and grandmother before taking their own lives in Allen, TX on Saturday. Citing depression, the brothers left a lengthy suicide note on social media.
“Hey everyone I killed myself and my family. If I’m going to die, I might as well get some attention. I’m going to cover four very important issues I encountered through my life. Who knows, some good may come of it,” wrote Farhan.
One of those very important points, that led them to slaughter their family was the declining quality of The Office:
In a rambling 12-page note initially linked to his Instagram page, Farhan Towhid, 19, said that he and his 21-year-old brother, Tanvir Towhid, were united in manic depression and all-day TV watching sessions.
“The first and most important show we watched was ‘The Office’,”…
He then ranted at length about how the show “should’ve ended when [Carell’s character] Michael left” because ‘eventually it went s–t” — complaining about plot- and character-developments that enraged him.
“People say the finale makes up for it, which is a complete lie. Sure it was cute, but it doesn’t justify the last few s—y seasons we had to deal with,” he wrote, saying he had “a lot more I want to say but hey, life is short.”
“We kept watching until February 21, 2021. That’s the day my older brother came into my room with a proposition: if we can’t fix everything in a year, we’ll kill ourselves and our family,” he wrote of the show.
But the brothers got antsy and only waited a month to commit the murder/suicide.
“The plan was simple. We get two guns. I take one and shoot my sister and grandma, while my brother kills our parents with the other. Then we take ourselves out,” Farhan wrote.
One of the other very important issues was Texas gun law:
“I would say the hard part of the plan was getting guns but that would be a lie. My fourth and final point: gun control in the US is a joke. All my brother had to do was go to the gunshop, say something about wanting a gun for home defense, sign some forms, and that was it,” wrote Farhan.
Well no, that wasn’t it. His brother had to show a valid ID and pass a background check. He also didn’t have to say anything about the reason why he wanted to purchase firearms. The point is, his brother wasn’t a convicted felon or any other type of banned person and was therefore allowed to buy guns.
The brother added this, to make it seem like the gun control laws are a joke:
“There was a question asking if he had any mental illnesses but—get this—he lied. ‘He literally just said no. They didn’t ask for proof or if he was taking any medication (he was). Just a yes or no question. Literally anyone can get a gun if they haven’t been officially diagnosed. Thanks for making the process so easy,” wrote Farhan.
There is no question about anyone taking medication otherwise almost nobody would be allowed to buy a gun. There is a question about being an addict or abuser of controlled substances, which isn’t the same thing as taking medication. There is also a question about having been declared mentally defective or forced into a mental institution.
Farhan’s brother was neither a drug addict or someone who had been declared legally insane, so he was allowed to buy the guns. If he had told the gun shop owner that he intended to use the firearms to kill himself and his family, the sale would have been denied.
This is not the “sick burn” on gun laws that the brothers think it is.
Lastly, If you are wondering why democrats and the liberal media haven’t been exploiting this mass shooting to push gun control it’s because the killers are from Bangladesh and not white supremacists. If they were, you’d see MSNBC saying that Steve Carell has blood on his hands.
