Sue the bastards!
On Thursday, DeSantis sued the Biden administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the CDC’s role in virtually shutting down the cruise industry, one of his state’s most important sources for jobs and tourism in an unprecedented overreach by an agency that is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution.
The CDC which has been put into God mode by the COVID crisis has hedged on allowing cruises out of Florida to resume sailing, leading Americans to fly to other destinations to board and depriving the U.S. economy of tourist dollars which is especially damaging to South Florida.
DeSantis announced the lawsuit as well as took questions in a press conference at the Port Of Miami; “On behalf of the tens of thousands of Floridians whose livelihoods depend on the viability of an open cruise industry, today Florida’s fighting back,” he announced in a press conference. “We don’t believe the federal government has the right to mothball a major industry for over a year, based on very little evidence and very little data.” Said the governor.

DeSantis, a Havard Law School graduate and former member of the Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps who understands the law believes that the courts will finally act to restrain the CDC which has run amok over the last year. According to the governor; “I think we have a good chance for success.”
According to a report by CNBC:
In the first 6 months of the pandemic, Florida lost $3.2 billion from the cruise industry shutdown, including almost 50,000 jobs paying $2.3 billion in wages, according to a September 2020 report from the Federal Maritime Commission. Since the CDC shut down the U.S. cruise industry last year, the state’s seaports have seen a decline in operating revenue of almost $300 million, and that figure is expected to reach nearly $400 million in July, the Florida Department of Transportation told CNBC.
Meanwhile, the CDC continues to lose credibility with Americans as it becomes increasingly politicized with the latest example being Biden’s new director Dr. Rochelle Walensky releasing a statement that racism is a “serious public health threat” that “affects the health of our entire nation,” a ludicrous position from a top bureaucrat whose primary role should be working 24/7 to address the COVID crisis.
Racism is a serious public health threat. The new CDC initiative is not just about the color of your skin but also about where you live, work, pray, & where your children play. All of these things feed into people’s health and their opportunities for health. https://t.co/hXWnqtqsei

According to an official statement from Walensky: “What we know is this: racism is a serious public health threat that directly affects the well-being of millions of Americans. As a result, it affects the health of our entire nation. Racism is not just the discrimination against one group based on the color of their skin or their race or ethnicity, but the structural barriers that impact racial and ethnic groups differently to influence where a person lives, where they work, where their children play, and where they gather in community.”
She added; “As the nation’s leading public health agency, CDC has a critical role to play to address the impact of racism on public health.”
With political appointees at the head of the nation’s premier institutions, the only way to fight back against their abuse of their agencies to promote a radical left ideological agenda is through the courts and Governor DeSantis is leading the way.
