Dimwit Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez already thinks it’s racist for America to define its borders and enforce its immigration laws. She stepped up this insanity by joining a group of democrats who are demanding that ICE stop arresting convicted felons and gang members for deportation. According to AOC, racism is behind the effort to rid our country of criminal scumbags.
In February, Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a memo saying that agents are only allowed to detain illegal aliens if they are a national security risk (terrorists) or convicted felons. This would seem to be some pretty lax border security from the Biden administration, but AOC sees it differently.
AOC and 34 democrats penned an angry letter to the heads of Homeland Security and ICE demanding an immediate stop to the detention of terrorist and felon illegals:
We write to share our concerns with the February 18, 2021 interim enforcement memorandum issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The memorandum does not provide adequate protection for the liberty interests of recently arrived immigrants seeking humanitarian relief and further criminalizes and dehumanizes immigrants by relying on the discriminatory criminal legal system.
Liberty interests of recently arrived immigrants? Do they mean the non-existent rights of people who illegally entered the country?
AOC and crew had 3 basics problems with the new ICE enforcement priorities:
First, the memorandum does not adequately protect the liberty interests of asylum seekers. Far from reflecting and honoring our treaty obligations, this memorandum presumes that any immigrant who unlawfully entered the United States on or after November 1, 2020 is a border security enforcement and removal priority. This blanket presumption will effectively mean detaining an untold number of people who have fled persecution.
Does the U.S. have treaties with other countries to let their scumbag citizens enter the country illegally? If so, we should probably renegotiate that, but I suspect AOC is being full of shit here.
Second, the memorandum presumes that any immigrant who has been convicted of an “aggravated felony” is a public safety enforcement and removal priority. The definition of “aggravated felonies” is itself flawed—a relic of the racist War on Drugs—and should not guide the agency’s enforcement priorities.
That part is so insanely nonsensical that AOC must have written it herself. This is my best attempt to unf*ck it: Illegal aliens convicted of felonies are not a threat to public safety because the War on Drugs was racist. It still defies logic.
Third, the memorandum invites racial profiling by presuming that an immigrant is a public safety enforcement and removal priority if they have been convicted of an offense in which an element was “active participation” in a gang or someone older than 16 who “intentionally participated” in a gang.
If an illegal alien has an MS-13 tattoo on his face, it would be racist for ICE to assume he’s a threat to public safety?
Finally, AOC drives it all home with this crazy thing:
We are in a moment of racial reckoning in this country, with communities across the country calling for an end to mass incarceration and racist policing.
In other words: because criminal George Floyd died of a drug overdose, we should stop deporting terrorists and gangbangers. That’s the all-time most batshit crazy thing anyone has ever said.
AOC should be forced to sponsor these illegal alien rapists and decapitators at her place for a period of 1 month. After that she can report to Congress if she still feels they aren’t a public safety threat. That is, if she still has a head.
