NAACP Thinks Biden’s Gun Control Plan Is Racist (Sort Of)

In response to the massive spike in violent crime in democrat-run cities across the country, illegitimate president Joe Biden has proposed a series of gun control initiatives. The NAACP worries that Biden’s plan might be kind of racist. Don’t worry, the NAACP is freaking out over Biden offering more money for cops and not his desire to disarm law-abiding gun owners so they aren’t suddenly making sense or on the right side of anything.

WOOD got a boner reporting this:

NAACP concerned about Biden’s gun control plan

President Joe Biden recently announced a plan to reduce gun violence and other crimes nationwide, but leaders in the Black community think it could do more harm than good.

But it’s not so much any gun control designs Biden has:

“This is an ongoing problem that is occurring not only in Grand Rapids, but in cities all across the country. It encourages over-policing of Black and brown communities, which ultimately results in the unnecessary harms and deaths of Black and brown people,” said Carlton T. Mayers II, the policing reform advisor for the Grand Rapids NAACP.

Somehow this gets dumber:

“We are very much so not in support of just arbitrarily giving money to law enforcement and not to community resources to deal with gun violence and violent crimes. They can use the money not only to hire more police officers, but also to use and purchase technology and other equipment. We’re very concerned about that,” Mayers said.

Last year, leaders with the city of Grand Rapids debated using ShotSpotter technology in high crime neighborhoods. This would use microphones to detect gunshots in certain areas. The plan hasn’t been approved, but Gayle Harvey, the NAACP’s executive officer of external relations, worries this would target Black and brown communities before crimes even take place.

“How is that going to help, how is it going to continue to protect Black and brown people in those communities that it services because to the high end, those are the communities that it will be in,” Harvey said.

Stick with me on this one, Gayle. ShotSpotter records a gunshot and triangulates the location so cops can quickly respond to a shooting. The important thing to note is that once a gunshot is detected, that means a crime has taken place. ShotSpotter doesn’t predict crimes before they happen like in Minority Report.

“That is going to at least put in place a way that community members would have a say on how this technology is used, so that way it’s not used in a discriminatory fashion,” Mayers said.

Is it possible to set ShotSpotter to disregard gunfire from black people? The ignorance here is off the charts. Gunshots do not have racial identity other than the fact that they are most likely coming from black criminals.

So rather than the NAACP having a problem with Biden’s unconstitutional gun control plans, they’re upset that Crazy Joe is proposing money that might help put black criminals in jail. Hey, it’s their f*cking neighborhoods. If they want violent criminals victimizing black people, I say let ’em go nuts with that.
