The biggest tactical error in Joe Biden’s clusters*cked Afghanistan pull-out was abandoning the Bagram Air Base. It would have made evacuating Americans and troops so much easier to have kept the base and we wouldn’t have turned over so much military hardware to the Taliban. Another reason is that the suicide bomber who killed 13 U.S. service members in Kabul was housed at Bagram and released by the Taliban. Yet another reason why the blood is on Biden’s hands.
In early July, as the Biden-ordered troop withdrawal was beginning in Afghanistan, a decision was made to abandon the Bagram Air Base. The reason was because it would take too many troops to protect the base and Biden wanted troops out, not in. The departure was so swift from Bagram that Afghan security forces didn’t even know about until after the U.S. troops were gone. For their part, the Afghans ran away and gave Bagram to the Taliban.
Another interesting thing about Bagram is that it was also a prison that house thousands of ISIS-K terrorists. This is a significant detail, as Fox News points out:
A top Republican on a key military panel said he reviewed intelligence that the ISIS-K suicide bomber that killed 13 U.S. service members outside of Hamid Karzai International Airport in August was a prisoner released from Bagram Air Base after the Taliban seized control of the facility.
Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif., the top Republican on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, told Fox News that Indian intelligence sources are reporting that the suicide bomber was one of the 7,000 prisoners housed at Bagram prison, and released by the Taliban last month.
“Security officials have now confirmed to me that the August 26th Kabul bomber was a known ISIS-K terrorist that was previously detained at the Bagram prison and was released along with thousands of others just days before the deadly attack,” said Calvert.
“There were 7,000 prisoners housed there — terrorists, the worst of the terrorists — held separately from other terrorists. We believe he was one of them,” added Calvert.
As we learned yesterday, Biden’s top military advisors recommend that he keep 2,500 troops in Afghanistan to prevent the collapse of the country but he decided against it and lied about it.
With intel showing that the suicide bomber was freed by the Taliban from Bagram, Rep. Calvert has a few questions:
“Why didn’t we move or secure those prisoners in the first place? And who is going to take responsibility for this miscalculation?” What are we doing to hunt down his accomplices?” Calvert asked.
I think I can answer those questions for the Congressman: We didn’t move or secure the terrorists because Biden had absolutely no plan to get out of Afghanistan. Nobody will take responsibility for that miscalculation and the liberal media will shield Biden from any criticism. We ain’t doin’ shit to hunt down the accomplices, just blowing up children with drone strikes.
Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, testified before Congress this week that reason why we abandoned Bagram was because it would have taken 5,000 troops to secure it. So what? The plan is so simple that even Joe could understand it: Hang on to Bagram while you evacuate Americans and allies from Kabul. Then, destroy the military equipment at Bagram and pull the troops out. No U.S. service members die and no Americans get left behind.
Instead, Biden gave hundreds of thousands of weapons, including helicopters and attack planes, to the Taliban, let 7,000 terrorists go free, and enabled the suicide bombing at the Kabul airport that killed 13 U.S. service members. And, oh yeah, he left hundreds if not thousands of Americans behind.
