Texas recently enacted a Constitutional carry law that allows anyone who can legally own a firearm to carry openly or concealed without requiring a permit. The key phrase here is “anyone who can legally own a firearm.” An 18-year-old scumbag in Texas shot 3 people in a school using an illegally possessed handgun but liberals insist the Constitutional carry law is to blame.
The NY Post reports:
A Texas student opened fire during a fight at his high school Wednesday morning, leaving four people injured, and later surrendered following a manhunt, police said.
The shooting left panicked students at Timberview High School in Arlington scrambling and barricading in their classrooms.
Timothy George Simpkins, 18, was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Assistant Police Chief Kevin Kolbye said.
A .45 handgun believed to be the weapon fired by Simpkins was recovered in the middle of a Grand Prairie street, police said.
And check this out:
Simpkins fled the scene, prompting authorities to ask for the public’s help tracking him down. But within hours, he retained an attorney who drove him to the police station, where he was handcuffed in the parking lot, authorities said.
So he lit up a classroom and then lawyered up? Sounds like he put some thought into this.
Luckily nobody died and all the victims are expected to recover. This wasn’t a school shooting in the classic sense, it was a pussy thug who got into a fight and tried to settle it by firing a gun willy nilly in a classroom. The most important things here are that this 18-year-old cannot legally own a handgun and that the Texas open carry law doesn’t allow anyone to be inside a school strapped.
And yet:
Another school shooting, this one in Texas, multiple victims reported.
My heart goes out to the victims and their families. Devastating and horrific.
My anger goes out to the Texas GOP and their Governor who enacted open carry and promote a culture of guns and violence.

Oh my! George Takei certainly has his facts confused here, doesn’t he? Also, I guarantee his heart doesn’t go out to the victims, he’s glad there was a shooting so he can spew his bullshit gun control agenda.
Speaking of which:
The Texas Governor has entered the chat with prayers for Arlington and a vow to bring the teen he ensured had easy access to guns “to justice.”
No word on why his strategy of guns for anyone, anywhere, any time – no questions asked – isn’t lowering gun violence rates. #txlege https://t.co/KrL2ueYqgV

There are no laws on the books in Texas or anywhere else that allows 18-year-olds easy access to firearms. This piece of shit who lit up the classroom didn’t obtain his gun legally. There are also no laws that arm everyone, everywhere, every time – no questions asked. There are however legal restrictions on gun ownership and background checks to legally purchase a firearm in all 50 states.
And finally, here’s justice correspondent at The Nation, Elie Mystal with this dumb take:
Is THIS the time I mention that Texas ended its gun licensing laws making it immeasurably easier for a student to get access to a gun… or is that not information people are supposed to ever bring up again?

This is the time I mention that the Texas Constitutional carry law did not make it immeasurably easier for an 18-year-old to get access to a gun. And really, how you’re allowed carry a gun has nothing to do with how easy or hard it is to purchase one.
I don’t have degrees in criminology or forensics nor am I a current or former law enforcement officer but I can say with absolute certainty that Timothy George Simpkins is 100% responsible for the shooting he committed in Arlington, Texas. It wasn’t Texas gun laws or a lack of gun control. The one who owns the finger on the trigger owns the shooting.
