2 Men Found Not Guilty Of Plotting To Kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

Remember before the 2020 election when the FBI busted a bunch of white supremacist Trump supporters for plotting to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer? And then it turned out they were actually leftist anarchists? And then it turned out undercover FBI informants did all of the plotting? Well, 2 of the defendants were just acquitted.

The AP reports:

A jury on Friday acquitted two men of all charges in a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer but couldn’t reach verdicts against the two alleged leaders, a stunning defeat for the government after a weekslong trial that centered on a remarkable FBI sting operation just before the 2020 election.

The results were announced a few hours after the jury said it was struggling to find unanimity on all 10 charges. The judge on the fifth day of deliberations told the panel to keep working, but jurors emerged again after lunch to say they still were deadlocked on some counts.

Daniel Harris, 24, and Brandon Caserta, 33, were found not guilty of conspiracy. In addition, Harris was acquitted of charges related to explosives and a gun.

The jury could not reach verdicts for Adam Fox, 38, and Barry Croft Jr., 46, which means the government can put them on trial again.

Maybe the government should put the FBI on trail for cooking up this whole scheme and then trying to frame innocent people.

“Obviously we’re disappointed with the outcome,” said U.S. Attorney Andrew Birge.

…defense lawyers portrayed the men as credulous weekend warriors prone to big, wild talk and often stoned on marijuana. They said agents and informants tricked and cajoled the men into targeting the governor.

During closing arguments a week ago, Fox’s attorney, Christopher Gibbons, said the plan was “utter nonsense,” and he pleaded with jurors to be the “firewall” against the government.

“I think what the FBI did is unconscionable and I think the jury just sent them a message loud and clear that these tactics — we’re not going to condone what they’ve done here,” Caserta’s attorney, Michael Hills, said.

The best quote however comes from a statement issued by Gretchen Whitmer’s office:

“The plot to kidnap and kill a governor may seem like an anomaly. But we must be honest about what it really is: The result of violent, divisive rhetoric that is all too common across our country. There must be accountability and consequences for those who commit heinous crimes. Without accountability, extremists will be emboldened,” read the statement.

The men were acquitted. Isn’t interesting how liberals hate justice when it doesn’t work in their favor?

I get why Whitmer is so bummed by this. At the time of the arrests, she milked this thing for all she could and it was a huge ego boost for her to think she was important enough to be kidnapped. Now she has to face the fact that she’s an insignificant nothing.

This is yet another black eye for the FBI, who views the American people the enemy of America. Now we just have to get the FBI’s roll in staging and executing January 6 exposed.
