Senate Leader Chuck Schumer called a joke vote for an abortion bill today. The reason why the vote was a joke is because he knew he didn’t have the 60 votes needed to pass it and called the vote anyway. As it turns out, he didn’t even have the 50 votes from his own party as West Virginia democrat Joe Manchin joined the Republicans in voting it down. Naturally, liberals lost their shit.
Following last week’s leak of a Supreme Court draft that indicates that Roe v. Wade is about to be struck down, hysterical democrats sought to codify abortion access. The House led by Nancy Pelosi passed a bill that radically expands abortions and sent it to the Senate. Schumer put the bill to a vote in an effort to shame Republicans for voting against it. Instead, the shame was on his own party.
Here’s Manchin explaining why he didn’t vote for the abortion bill:
MANCHIN: “Make no mistake. It is not Roe v. Wade codification. It’s an expansion. It wipes 500 state laws off the books. It expands abortion.” pic.twitter.com/yfj6w3gTXU

“The bill we have today to vote on, the Women’s Health Protection Act, and I respect people that support — but make no mistake, it is not Roe v. Wade codification. It’s an expansion. It wipes 500 state laws off the books — it expands abortion. And with that, that’s not where we are today. We should not be dividing this country further than we’re already divided,” said Manchin.
And here’s some democrats losing their shit:
Bernie Sanders went after Manchin but was too cowardly to to use his name or tag him:
If you can’t stand up for a woman’s right to choose, for voting rights, for an economy that works for all, why are you caucusing with the Senate Democrats? We need a Democratic Majority where all members believe in economic, racial, social and environmental justice.
— Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) May 11, 2022
It seems like if Bernie actually thought the democrats were so awesome he’d actually be one instead of an Independent. On the plus side, it’s the first tweet he’s ever posted that didn’t contain the words “greedy corporations.”
Here’s Chucky the Clown himself, accusing Manchin of being a MAGA Republican:
Americans will not forget who voted to protect a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her body—who voted to protect abortion rights.
Today’s vote was just one step.
We can’t allow this shameful backslide from MAGA Republicans.
We will keep fighting for women’s rights.
— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) May 11, 2022
I’ve got news for Schumer, nobody will remember who voted for or against this thing tomorrow because only a handful of radical leftist lunatics give a shit.
And speaking of shit, here’s Nancy Pelosi calling Manchin a Trump supporter:
Today, Senate Republicans lined up in lockstep behind Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump to vote to rip away the Constitutional right to health freedom from American women across the nation.
— Nancy Pelosi (@SpeakerPelosi) May 11, 2022
If killing unborn babies was indeed a Constitutional right, why would Congress need to pass a law making it legal?
Even Joe Biden got in on the “Manchin is a Republican” nonsense:
As fundamental rights are at risk at the Supreme Court, Senate Republicans have blocked passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act. They have chosen to stand in the way of Americans’ rights to make the most personal decisions about their own bodies, families and lives.
— President Biden (@POTUS) May 11, 2022
Aborted babies don’t equal families. Just sayin’.
Not only have the democrats moved radically left of Joe Manchin, they are doing everything they can to push him right. The reality of the situation is, Manchin’s vote didn’t mean a thing because they needed 60 votes and there was no way 10 Republicans were going to vote for this piece of shit.
