GOP Governor Takes Quick Action on School Safety – Bill Signed to Allow Armed School Workers in Ohio

In the aftermath of the horrific Uvalde shooting, democrats have demanded radical gun control.

This from thepatriotjournal.com.

Republicans, knowing gun control doesn’t work, have suggested solutions that will keep children safe. Liberals have ignored them.

The Regime is opposed to hardening our schools, choosing instead to seek legislation to “deal with guns” by curtailing our Second Amendment Rights.

In Congress, one side of the aisle is adamant about seeking bipartisan legislation to address gun violence.

The other side is interested in coming together to target what they see as the problem of mental illness affecting school safety.

A bipartisan group of 10 senators is hoping to negotiate a gun proposal during the Senate’s upcoming recess—with ideas including expanded background checks or red flag laws that keep guns out of the hands of potentially dangerous people.

From Newsmax:

Ohio school districts could begin arming employees as soon as this fall under legislation approved by Republican lawmakers and set to be signed by GOP Gov. Mike DeWine.

The bill will protect children by ensuring instruction is specific to schools and including significant scenario-based training, DeWine said late Wednesday in announcing his support.

Under the latest version of the bill, school employees who carry guns would need up to 24 hours of initial training, then up to eight hours of requalification training annually.

Does this not sound reasonable? Teachers who own firearms are already experienced in firearm safety. This training will probably be specific to securing a classroom and clearing it of threats.

But if it is widely known that teachers are armed, will these cowardly killers even bother?

Many will not. But those stupid enough to try will quickly learn the hard way, these schools are protected.

Democrats have gone on record to oppose these measures because they want to pressure the country to embrace extreme gun control.

But the facts don’t lie. Places with the strongest gun control are the most vulnerable. And if a few armed teachers is what it takes to stop more tragedy, then this seems to be the best choice to make.
