The sham January 6 Committee had a surprise hearing today with an even more surprising witness. It was Trump’s former Chief-of-Staff Mark Meadows’ aide Cassidy Hutchinson who told a bunch of anecdotes that she heard from other people. In a court of law, this is called hearsay, but to the J6ers it’s compelling testimony. One of the more outrageous lies Hutchinson told was that Donald Trump tried to commandeer his limo and attempted to strangled a Secret Service agent who intervened.
In a story Hutchinson says was told to her by White House aide Tony Ornato, she says she heard that after Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally on January 6, he wanted to go to the Capitol but the Secret Service wouldn’t allow it:
So once the president had gotten into the vehicle with [Secret Service agent Robert Engle], he thought that they were going up to the Capitol. And when Bobby had relayed to him, we’re not, we don’t have the assets to do it, it’s not secure. We’re going back to the West Wing.
The president had a very strong, very angry response to that.
Tony described him as being irate. The president said something to the effect of, “I’m the F*cking president! Take me up to the Capitol now!”
To which Bobby responded, “Sir, we have to go back to the West Wing.”
The president reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engels grabbed his arm, said, “Sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel. We’re going back to the West Wing. We’re not going to the Capitol.”
Mr. Trump then used his free hand to lunge towards Bobby Engel and Mr., when Mr. Ornato had recounted the story to me, he had motioned towards his clavicles.
Before we get to what a bullshit story this is, let’s have some comic relief. When CNN was covering this, Jeffrey Toobin, who was busted masturbating on a Zoom meeting, had this reaction:
“He tried to strangle his secret service agent,” exclaimed Toobin.
“This was obscene,” added Jake Tapper.
Jeffry Toobin not only tried by succeeded in choking his chicken in front of shocked coworkers, which everyone but CNN agrees is obscene.
Now back to the BS: In the presidential limo, known as “The Beast” there is a bullet-proof partition between the president and the driver for safety reasons. Communication from the back to the front is through an intercom. Just for shits and giggles, let’s pretend that the patrician was down, how the f*ck would Trump be able to reach over and try to take over operation of the vehicle? It’s not physically possible.
Even if it were, grabbing the wheel from the back isn’t driving the vehicle, it’s crashing the vehicle because obviously Trump wouldn’t have had access to the gas and break pedals.
In Hutchinson’s retelling of this hard-to-believe story she says Trump tried to grab the wheel but never did and then claims Agent Engel told him to take his hand off the wheel. If he didn’t actually grab the wheel, why would the Secret Service Agent tell him to let go?
Additionally, Trump is right-handed so presumably he grabbed for the wheel with his right hand. Hutchinson said Engel grabbed the hand reaching for the wheel and then Trump tried to strangle him with his left hand. Think about the ridiculous logistics of that. Trump is stretched out with his right hand towards the steering wheel on the left and then tries to strangle Engle to his right with his left hand. It’d be weirder than playing Twister.
Also, who strangles people by the clavicles? It sounds more like a shoulder rub than attempted murder.
And again, this is all second-hand information. The J6 Committee should have had Tony Ornato or Robert Engels testify about this but they didn’t, which makes it sound even more like bullshit.
