Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono recently said we have to ban “assault weapons” because we don’t know what our Founding Fathers meant. That obviously didn’t fly but it doesn’t mean democrats are out of ideas. Rep. Pramila Jayapal says we have to ban assault weapons because white supremacy is on the rise, plus gun manufacturers are getting rich.
Here’s one of the dumbest tweets ever:

It’s also the mutha of non sequiturs.
This is like if she said: As Bigfoot sightings and paranoia are on the rise, cod fisherman have gotten rich off of a seemingly endless string of hurricanes. It’s time for a fracking ban to protect our communities.
These things are not related at all.
They also aren’t true.
White supremacy is not on the rise as long as you don’t count all of the undercover federal agent white supremacist groups. Seriously, the only white supremacy activity we see is feds posing as pseudo-Nazis:

It seems like if democrats could get the feds to stop posing as white supremacists, they problem would go away.
Also, gun manufacturers aren’t getting rich off of tragedies, they’re logging record sales because democrats like Jayapal keep threatening to ban guns. It’s called panic buying and it’s why Barack Obama was regarded as the greatest gun salesman ever. Another reason why gun sales are up is because democrats have defunded the police and enacted racial justice reforms that have caused a serious rise in violent crime. People are scared and want some protection.
An assault weapons ban wouldn’t “protect our communities” mostly because our communities aren’t being ripped apart by violence involving whatever democrats think assault weapons are. On average, there are 300 murders a year committed with long guns of any kind. That represents a very small fraction of the 20,000 people shot to death each year.
Even if democrats could ban and confiscate all of the the so-called assault weapons, nearly 20,000 people will still be murdered by gunfire.
The biggest reason why Jayapal’s tweet is so insanely stupid is because the 2nd Amendment doesn’t read: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed unless white supremacy and hatred are on the rise and gun manufacturers are getting rich.
It’s not time to ban “assault weapons” because our Founding Fathers made sure there would never be a time to take away our Constitutional rights.
