Chief Justice John Roberts Puts Radical Progressive Protesters on Notice for ‘Questioning the Legitimacy of the Court’

U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts put the democrat communist party on notice over their hysterical response to the Roe v Wade decision at a conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

This from slaynews.com.

Roberts said:

People can say what they want, but simply because people disagree with an opinion is not a basis for questioning the legitimacy of the court.

If the court doesn’t retain its legitimate function of interpreting the Constitution, I’m not sure who would take up that mantle. You don’t want the political branches telling you what the law is.

And you don’t want public opinion to be the guide of what the appropriate decision is.

He added:

The barricades are down and when we take the bench the first Monday in October at 10 a.m, the public will be there to watch us.

According to The Washington Examiner:

He also said it was “gut-wrenching” to see the Supreme Court surrounded by barricades as protests erupted in the wake of the Roe reversal.

Roberts decried the “betrayal” of the leak at the time, saying it was designed to “undermine the integrity” of the court.

His speech came after Justice Neil Gorsuch’s comment that the investigation into the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion was underway and that there would be a report of the findings.

Gorsuch said at the 10th Circuit Bench & Bar Conference at the Broadmoor resort in Colorado, according to the Wall Street Journal:

The chief justice appointed an internal committee to oversee the investigation.

That committee has been busy, and we’re looking forward to their report, I hope, soon.

According to MSN

Michael McConnell, a former appeals court judge who teaches at Stanford Law School, said he was surprised that the judges who interviewed Roberts at Friday’s event didn’t ask him about the leaked draft opinion, but not surprised by the absence of questions about his comments on the court’s legitimacy.

McConnell said:

Such forums are normally anodyne.

The old fashioned, long-standing view is opinions speak for themselves and judges don’t talk about them.

Final thoughts: It is encouraging to see the High Court taking this stand to defend its authority to interpret the Constitution.

And it is particularly encouraging for Chief Justice Roberts to be the one speaking for the importance of the court and the impropriety of efforts by the public to influence judicial decision-making.

Of late, I would have anticipated Justice Thomas to be the one to speak for the Court. Could this mean Chief Justice Roberts has determined to become a consistent conservative voice?

Lastly and sadly, I do not foresee the attacks of the radical progressives being assuaged by Chief Justice Roberts’ defense of the High Court. We’ll likely see more of the same if not more violent acts and with no help from the recalcitrant DOJ.
