Republican Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) is introducing a bill that allows states to enforce their own immigration laws, including the deportation of illegal immigrants.
This from slaynews.com.
Hawley announced his bill during an appearance on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle.
He told host Laura Ingraham that it is:
“Time to take the gloves off.”
The senator’s bill is called the “Empowering States to Deport Illegal Immigrants Act.”
Hawley said:
If Joe Biden isn’t going to enforce immigration laws why don’t we let the states enforce immigration laws?
Let them do it, let’s let them secure the border, let’s let them deport illegal immigrants according to our laws.
Let’s take the gloves off here, let’s enforce the law, let’s restore order to the border.
WATCH:
The legislation is one of a number of recent efforts by Republicans at both state and national level to have states step in to fill what they say is a vacuum caused by the federal government’s inaction in the face of a raging migrant crisis.
A number of lawmakers at the state and local levels in Arizona and Texas have called for their governors to declare an “invasion.”
Such a move would give them greater powers to detain and remove illegal immigrants.
Final thoughts: This legislation won’t succeed in the current Congress, but what about after November 2022’s Red Wave? And introducing the bill now will make a nice campaign ad for GOP candidates.
God speed to Conservatism.
