We may not have gotten the Red Wave we were promised but, fingers crossed, Republicans probably will take the House and there’s a slim chance of the Senate too. While we’re waiting for the final vote tallies to come in, let’s enjoy the fact that both Beto O’Rourke and Stacy Abrams lost by double-digits and laugh at all the cash they burned doing so.
Democrats Stacy Abrams lost the 2018 Georgia governor race to Rebublican Brian Kemp and never conceded because she said there was wide-spread voter suppression despite record voter turnout. She again took on Kemp in 2022, with liberal pundits saying she would walk away with the Governorship.
Welp, the votes are in from Tuesday’s election and Kemp beat Abrams by 10 points, which is what political scientists call a major ass-whooping. As funny as that is, it’s even more hilarious because she spent $105 million losing that badly. Granted, it wasn’t her money but the democratic party and donors look pretty foolish for backing such an unappealing unelectable loser.
At least this time around Abrams did concede so she’ll go down in history as a one-time make-believe Georgia governor.
Democrat Beto O’Rourke first burst onto the scene when he challenged and failed to unseat Republican Senator Ted Cruz in 2018. In that campaign, out-of-state money flowed into O’Rourke’s coffers and he ended up blowing $80.3 million only to lose by over 200,000 votes.
O’Rourke next tried running for president but made an early exit from he democratic primaries without attracting any support. In that campaign, he wasted $18.6 million of donor’s money.
You’d think with such a track record of failure, it would be hard for O’Rourke to raise another dime, but in his failed bid to unseat Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott, he conned donors into giving him another $76 million.
And what did that $76 million buy? Well, O’Rourke lost to Abbott on Tuesday by 11 points. That’s what political scientists call a major ass-whooping + 1.
All told, Beto O’Rourke has burned through almost $200 million in 4 years on 3 campaigns that were miserable failures. I wonder what he plans on losing next and how many stupid people are willing to finance that failure.
And that’s not all. Democrats poured $70 million into democrat Val Demings’ campaign against Republican Senator Marco Rubio and she got her clock cleaned by 17 points.
Democrats also spent $11 million on nobody democrat Marcus Flowers in his race against Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. The final tally saw Flowers getting curb-stomped by over 30 points.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that democrats are really good at wasting other people’s money. They set it on fire trying to get into Congress and when they do buy or steal an election, they throw it into an active volcano.
Republicans are edging closer to taking control of the House, though it won’t be by as big of a majority as it should be. In the Senate, Republican Adam Laxalt leads in Nevada and could pull out a win, which would give the GOP 50 seats. In Georgia, democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker are headed to a run-off election, which if the stars align, would give Republicans the majority.
