The house January 6 Committee held a bunch of prime-time hearings, trying in vain to get people to give a shit about the nothing burger protests. Then, they delayed releasing their final report until after the midterms, a sure sign they have nothing. They will now release the report along with criminal referrals, they just aren’t quite sure who should be prosecuted yet.
The Hill reports from inside the clown car that is the January 6 committee:
The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol will release its list of criminal referrals alongside its final report on Dec. 21, the panel’s chair told reporters Thursday.
Sounds serious, but check out the next paragraph:
The panel is meeting this Sunday to hash out what referrals it may make to the Department of Justice (DOJ), where the ultimate decision rests over whether to pursue any charges for the activity related to the effort to block the transfer of power.
“We want to make sure no one slips through the cracks. We want to make sure that the key organizers and movers of this attack don’t escape the scrutiny of the justice system,” said committee member Jamie Raskin.
And:
“The committee is engaged in very painstaking due diligence about all of the statutory events … and reviewing the record and the video and the testimony. Even though what we’re doing is just making a referral of our views, we want to take it very seriously,” Raskin added.
The J6 committee has been investigating for more than a year and have held hundreds of hours of hearings and depositions and yet they don’t know who they will recommend criminal referrals for? That’s astounding, even for a bunch of democrats with their heads up their own asses.
Obviously they want to put Donald Trump up for a criminal referral and that’s clearly something they can’t make happen. The entire charade of the committee has been to find a way to make sure Trump can’t run again in 2024, and if they had anything on him, even a little thing, they would have given to the DoJ a long time ago.
In fact, The Hill reported on another thing that says these J6ers have just been twiddling their thumbs:
The DOJ had previously requested the committee turn over some of its deposition transcripts, but the panel ultimately decided not to do so.
That’s how you say you got nothing, without saying you got nothing.
Maybe the powwow they’re having this weekend is to try to collectively will the lack of evidence into something Trump could be prosecuted for. Or perhaps they’ll just drink some wine, grease up, and see what happens.
It’s unclear what the January 6 committee’s final report will contain, given the underwhelming stuff they’ve leaked, but we know for sure what won’t be in it. There will be no reference to the FBI’s involvement in planning the protests or their complicity in the Capitol breach. And there sure as hell won’t be anything about the security failures of Nancy Pelosi and the Capitol police.
