Since the war with Russia started, Ukraine has received more than $50 billion in aide from the U.S., with more on the way. Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stopped by the White House on Wednesday to say thanks and put his hand out for even more. At least with a PBS donation you get a tote bag, but what the hell does America receive for this insane generosity?
Just yesterday, The AP reported this:
The Biden administration announced Wednesday that it will provide $1.85 billion in military aid to Ukraine, rolling out funding for a Patriot missile battery as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington for his first known trip out of his country since Russia invaded in February.
And during Zelenskyy’s D.C. vacation, he mentioned that the latest military aid won’t be enough:
ZELENSKYY: “I can send messages to President Biden…What’s going to happen after patriot [missiles] are installed? After that we will send another signal to President Biden that we would like to get more…We are in war. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.” pic.twitter.com/ympkxovUqT

Yeah, but it’s Ukraine’s war, not ours. Why the hell should we continue to fund them with money we don’t have? Especially during a recession and economic shitshow at home.
The story gets more infuriating when you consider this report from The Hill:
The massive full-year government funding bill released early Tuesday contains $45 billion in new emergency funds for Ukraine in its battle against Russian forces, nearly 20 percent higher than the Biden administration requested. Â
The final amount, included in the year-end, must-pass omnibus bill, means Ukraine will get $8 billion more than the $37 billion President Biden asked Congress for last month.
I’m sure there’s a ton of bullshit spending in the $1.7 trillion budget bill that needs to be cut, but why the f*ck are they trying to hide more Ukraine aid in it? Shouldn’t Ukraine funding be a a stand alone bill?
These numbers are getting insane, as The Hill noted:
The bill still must be passed by the House and Senate and signed by Biden, but should it happen by year’s end, total U.S. military, humanitarian and economic assistance to Ukraine will tick past more than $110 billion in 2022.
That’s not $110 billion in a year, it’s only been 10 months since Russia invaded Ukraine. We’re giving Ukraine a $11 billion a month allowance and they don’t even have to do chores to earn it.
Making things a cluster*ck of epic proportions, this looks like a war without end. Due to Russia’s overall ineptitude and the general shiftiness of their military gear, they are never going to win. Due to Russian president Vladimir Putin’s ego and stubbornness, they are never going to concede. Ukraine is never going to stop asking us for money.
If Ukraine needs money so bad, why doesn’t Zelenskyy sell one of those Y’s in his last name or get a part-time job driving for Uber Eats? There is no reason in hell why the U.S. should give another dime to fund another country’s war.
