Nicky’s Corner

Okay, two days ago, I posted a short opinion piece on New York, and while I won’t get into it again. If you care to read it, here is a link. Have we had enough yet? In the comment section, it seems almost all of you agreed with me. I’m not sure how many of you read it, but I will say most of those whose opinions I value here read it, and some of you even posted a comment. There are a few notable names that didn’t comment, Raptor Keeper, Looker, Jay, Combat Beard, Peter Brown, Mr. Lee, and Valdez, to name a few. I’m not sure if any of them read it or not, I know most of them have lives to live and don’t wait around for me to decide to drop a post, and I’m not fishing for approval, just pointing out the obvious. A lot of the newer folks did comment and I thank you for your time. I call anyone here now, newer if you didn’t come from Downtrend with us. Anyone that wasn’t there in 2016 or before. I’m sure many of you might have done what I did and require a name change too. I will also say if you have been here for 6 years you aren’t new, but I’m not a mathematician. Regardless of when you joined, you are now, are part of the family, and I welcome you all.

So, moving forward (finally) a few of the comments even said to get off your lazy ass and write more. This is my attempt to do that. I’m not sure how regular this will be, but I will try to post an opinion piece on Monday morning of each week. Just remember some of you asked for this, blame them.

I heard this weekend Chuck Todd is leaving the show “Meet the Press” and while I’m sure most of you are as heartbroken as I am to hear this, I suppose some of you may feel a bit less… upset. My first comment was oh, really, I wonder how bad the ratings were. So being a nosy bastard I googled it. This was the first return, from Forbes.

“Todd’s departure follows reports of declining ratings. From the news-filled 2020-2021 season to the 2021-2022 season, Meet The Press saw a 22% decline in ratings, according to Deadline. Meanwhile, the program’s competitors, CBS’ Face The Nation and ABC’s This Week, saw 13% and 12% drops respectively. Note I’m leaving the Deadline link in but not sure it will work.”

As I read further, I saw returns saying Chuck Todd steps down, Todd left the show… etc. I saw another return that said, First woman ever to host Meet the Press and another bringing up the fact the first black woman to host the show. I do not have links to all because I didn’t care enough to get them. Plus, I figured you didn’t care enough to read them. I figured you like me don’t even know who this woman is. So, I have found her name, it is Kristen Welker. Who, you ask? Don’t ask me I have no idea either, and I figure that makes us even. I’m sure she never heard of me either, the difference is I don’t care if my name is a household name or not, but I’m sure hers will be soon enough, that is if the show somehow survives. Hell, she may get all the blame when the show fails.

Meet the Press used to be a good show, not that I watched it a lot. It is the longest running program on American television. The few times I did watch it I liked the host, Tim Russert. Yep, haven’t watched it since 2008.

I did find in the second to the last return the truth, someone finally had the guts to say what that first return said, but they said it in plain English. “Chuck Todd faces the boot as Meet the Press ratings drop.” I was going to drop a link, but it had a 30 ad, for a 35-second video telling you what I just did. In essence, I saved you, you owe me, but if you want to see it google Quad City report on Chuck Todd I think that will take you there and they borrowed it from The New York Post. I’d go to the Post first, but you can do whatever you like. If you really want to see it ask in the comments and I’ll post it there, but trust me you don’t wanna see it.

So I felt, I need to point out that if Fox News gave say someone like, Harris Faulkner a show, even a daily daytime show, and let’s say they called it the “Faulkner Focus” and another show called, oh, I don’t know “Outnumbered” and pointed out that Ms. Faulkner was the first woman to have her own name used in a daily show, and the first African-American woman to be on two shows at the same network, every day, do you think that would be necessary? The left is so filled with hate that they feel the need to call attention to the sex, ethnicity, or religion of everyone. biden does it all the time. A quote of his “More than half the women of my cabinet, more than half the people of my cabinet, more than half the women in my administration are women.” What diversity means to me from joe’s mouth is he picked a bunch of people that may or may not be qualified, but that he picked them because of their sex, their skin color, or because they believe differently than most Americans do. I’m all for ignoring the sex, or skin color of a person but if you picked them because of those attributes you are the racist. You are not moving the ball forward you are effectively stopping the advancement.

“More than half the women of my cabinet, more than half the people of my cabinet, more than half the women in my administration are women,”  That is a quote from President Jackass. More than half the women in my administration are women. WHAT?  I won’t even try to decipher that. I do think I now know what caused his embolism though. If I had to try and understand the words that came out of that idiot’s pie hole I’d most likely have an embolism too. It boggles one’s mind that this f***er’s brain can remember to breathe.

Mr. LAMP this went up a short time ago, it is hot off the presses. I told them to keep your copy warm.

In closing, as usual, let me know where I went wrong or if you disagree with my reasoning. If you have any ideas, or if you just want to hear what I think on a subject let me know. I won’t promise to address it, or even give you my opinion but you never know I just might.
