Democrat Officials May Face Jail Time For One Thing—Legal Analyst Reveals Possible Punishments

In recent years, extreme liberal policies have left the country in shambles.

Crime rates have surged, inflation has squeezed wallets, and poverty levels have skyrocketed.

This from thepatriotjournal.com.

And perhaps the most destructive of these policies has been the unchecked flood of illegal aliens into the United States.

Millions have crossed the border under lax enforcement, and some of these individuals have committed heinous crimes, including the tragic deaths of innocent Americans.

Now, legal experts are sounding the alarm on the consequences of these policies. One prominent legal analyst, Gregg Jarrett, is making it clear that those who shield illegal aliens could face serious repercussions.

Jarrett warned that harboring undocumented individuals, often under the guise of “sanctuary” policies, is not merely irresponsible—it is illegal.

From Daily Caller:

Legal analyst Gregg Jarrett said Monday on Fox Business how Democratic officials attempting to harbor illegal immigrants could face legal repercussions, including jail time or the withholding of federal funds…

…although a detainer was lodged, the New York City Department of Corrections would not honor it due to its current policy.

Gregg Jarrett did not mince words during a Fox Business segment. He highlighted the recent case of Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, a Guatemalan national accused of recently killing a woman by setting her on fire in a New York City subway.

Despite a federal immigration detainer lodged by ICE, New York City’s Department of Corrections refused to cooperate due to its sanctuary policies. Jarrett called this a blatant defiance of federal law.

He stated:

It’s a crime to conceal, harbor, or shield anybody here illegally.

Jarrett pointed out:

[O]bstructing federal officials in deportation efforts

is a felony punishable by up to five years

in prison for each individual being shielded.

For leaders like Denver’s mayor, who have openly vowed to resist deportation efforts, Jarrett suggested their actions could carry decades—or even centuries—of prison time.

With Donald Trump set to take office, communists/globalists are doubling down on their opposition to his plans for mass deportations. Leaders in cities like Chicago, Tucson, and Denver have pledged to resist Trump and his border czar nominee, Tom Homan.

Some, like Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, have gone so far as to say local police and residents will refuse to assist federal authorities.

But Jarrett argued that prison time might not be the only solution to these sanctuary policies.

He said:

If the threat of prison isn’t enough to get the attention of these mayors and governors, I say hit them where it really hurts: their wallets.

He pointed out that a 1996 law requires cooperation with ICE, and failure to comply could result in billions of dollars in lost federal funding.

Further:

That would bankrupt certain cities and states.

Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar nominee, has been vocal about the need to enforce immigration laws.

He recently told liberal officials to “get the hell out of the way” and warned that Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi could bring legal charges against those obstructing deportation efforts.

Polls show that illegal immigration remains one of Americans’ top concerns.

Many voters see Trump’s aggressive approach to border security as a much-needed course correction.

Jarrett stressed that sanctuary policies not only defy federal law but also put American lives at risk. Cases like Zapeta-Calil’s underscore the dangers of shielding individuals who should have been deported.

The law is clear: federal immigration statutes supersede state and local laws.
