‘Don’t bet against Michelle Obama’: Tucker Carlson predicts former first lady will be 2020 Democratic nominee

Via The Washington Examiner

Fox News host Tucker Carlson told voters not to rule out the possibility of the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination going to former first lady Michelle Obama, despite her insistence that she isn’t planning a run.

“If you’re wondering who the Democratic nominee will be, don’t bet against Michelle Obama,” he said on Monday’s Tucker Carlson Tonight. “Last week, the former first lady issued a statement claiming she has no interest in being president, but there are signs that’s not true.”

Carlson then pointed to several examples that have made him suspicious about a potential Obama bid, including David Axlerod’s attacks on 2020 front-runner and former Vice President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama’s refusal to endorse Biden in the race so far, and reports that the former president tried to convince his No. 2 not to enter.

“If Obama had endorsed Biden, the race would be over … Obama hasn’t endorsed Joe Biden because he doesn’t want to. Why? Maybe he’s got other plans,” he speculated.

The Democratic Cold War on Christianity Heating Up

Via The American Thinker

One of the great unknowns in terms of the future electorate is the effect the Democrats’ increasingly radical anti-faith stance will have on its voting coalition.

Black and Hispanic Democrats tend to be far more religious than the white Democrats who are driving the party’s agenda. Will this alliance hold as the party increasingly kowtows to vocal anti-Christian Marxists? Will these voters start to defect as Democrats intensify their open war on people of faith?

These questions arose this week when the sad story emerged that Chick-fil-A would no longer support three mainstream Christian-based charities; the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul Anderson Youth Home, all under the auspices that they are anti-LGBTQ.

Despite Franklin Graham’s well-meaning defense of the company, not only did the company’s leadership cave but they made a public announcement clearly aimed at appeasing liberals.

Like the Salvation Army, Chick-fil-A never expected to find itself on the frontline in Democrats open war against Christianity. But, they were there nonetheless, and surrendering ground against these enemies was a mistake. The only way liberals will back off the attacks against Chick-fil-A is if the company heartily endorses and celebrates the full LGBTQ agenda. In other words, they expect either the destruction or total surrender of their religious foes.

Chick-Fil-A, Your Compromise Is Demoralizing

Via The Daily Caller

Chick-fil-A wants out of the culture war.

News broke Monday that the fast-food chain would no longer donate to the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, two organizations that hold traditional views on marriage and sexuality. Instead, the Atlanta-based chain will now focus its charitable giving on three causes: education, hunger, and homelessness.

Chick-fil-A says this streamlined approach will provide more “clarity and impact” in its giving. But the company’s president and chief operating officer, Tim Tassopoulos, recently revealed what is likely the real reason for the shift: Chick-fil-A wants access to new markets, and bad publicity is getting in the way.

In a recent interview with Bisnow, Tassopoulos acknowledged that Chick-fil-A had been “taking it on the chin” for years, and that recent headlines made it difficult to expand. Now, he says, they want to be “clear about who we are.”

Amid backlash from conservatives, Tassopoulos said that “no organization will be excluded from consideration” in charitable giving, “faith-based or non-faith-based.” But that’s little consolation since the signal had already been sent: Chick-fil-A wants “new markets” to know it’s made a change.

Chick-fil-A’s expansion efforts have run into obstacles in more progressive parts of the country. Just this year, Chick-fil-A lost franchise deals in San Antonio and in Buffalo, New York, and most recently in England, over its past donations to groups that hold traditional views on marriage.

‘Indian food is terrible’ tweet sparks hot debate about racism

Via The BBC

“Indian food is terrible and we pretend it isn’t,” said international affairs professor Tom Nichols.

Critics called his comment a tasteless generalization.

The remark led to a wider discussion of the immigrant experience and how many in the US have experienced racism in relation to food.

Mr. Nichols – who teaches at the US Naval War College in Rhode Island – posted his opinion after another Twitter user had asked for “controversial food opinions”.

Critics were quick to respond. “Do you not have taste buds?” asked celebrity chef Padma Lakshmi.

“Imagine going through life this flavorless,” wrote another commenter.

Preet Bharara, a former prosecutor from New York, tweeted: “Tom, I’ll take you to a place. We need to bring the country together. #ButterChickenSummit.”

Others said Mr Nichols had probably tried “less than 1%” of all Indian dishes, which come from a hugely diverse country. Mr Nichols later admitted that he had only ever eaten at Indian restaurants in the US and UK.

Progressives Try New Strategy To Win The Hearts Of Americans: Interrupting College Football

Via The Babylon Bee (Satire)

U.S.—Progressives are trying a new strategy to win over American hearts and minds after it was found that their outraged antics often turn people off: interrupting college football games.

“We’ve tried blocking traffic, chanting during baseball games, and screaming at people in restaurants, but people still don’t love us for some reason,” said one climate protester while she was being put into a squad car. “So now, by interrupting something most Americans don’t even like and probably no one even cares about, college football, we’ll get lots of praise and positive attention from your average Joe.”

“This is a surefire way to win the rural, red-state voters over to our cause.”

Since the strategy proved somewhat successful during the Harvard-Yale game, the protesters say they’re going to try it on a real college football game next weekend: “We can’t wait to see how much praise we get when we interrupt the LSU-Texas A&M game this Saturday.”
