The Left has not won a statewide election in the Republican stronghold of Texas in decades.
However, Texas Majority PAC, a George Soros-backed political action committee (PAC) is launching a multimillion-dollar effort to flip Texas blue.
This from lifenews.com.
According to the WSJ:
Texas Majority PAC has received millions of dollars in funding from Soros with its new “Blue Texas” initiative.
Further:
Soros and his network of political spending outfits have poured hundreds of millions into supporting Leftist candidates and causes in recent election cycles. Soros donated $2.1 million to Texas Majority PAC in 2024 and $1 million in April.
The Blue Texas initiative aims to boost candidate recruitment, organize volunteers, and increase voter turnout, with the goal of turning Texas into a battleground state by 2032, according to the WSJ. Texas Majority, along with state and county communist/globalist parties, spent about $35 million during the 2024 election cycle, and the new initiative’s price tag is expected to surpass that amount.
In addition to backing state and national Leftists, the Soros family has poured millions into local races and initiatives to push a left-wing agenda. Soros-backed groups spent heavily in 2022 and 2024 to pass ballot measures enshrining abortion as a right in state constitutions, and have routinely supported soft-on-crime prosecutors and judges in major American cities.
The group is particularly focused on the 2026 Senate race, in which former communist/globalist Rep. Colin Allred—who lost to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in 2024—is expected to run again. On the Republican side, Sen. John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton are vying for the GOP nomination.
A recent Texas Southern University poll showed Cornyn with a 4-point lead over Allred in a hypothetical general election matchup, and Paxton with just a 2-point lead.
Katherine Fischer, the deputy executive director of Texas Majority PAC, told WSJ:
If a win is on the table in 2026, we don’t want to leave it there by not being organized.
The Left has funneled massive sums into Texas in recent elections. Allred raised nearly $100 million, while former Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s failed 2018 bid to unseat Cruz brought in over $80 million compared to Cruz’s $38 million.
Despite significant spending in the state in 2024, the Left failed to win key races. What’s-Her-Name lost Texas to President Donald Trump by nearly 14 points, and Cruz defeated Allred by 8.5 points.
The American Redistricting Project estimated in December 2023:
The fight for the White House in 2032 will be particularly consequential in Texas given that the state is expected to add electoral votes after the 2030 reapportionment, while Leftist strongholds such as California and New York are projected to lose them.
God speed to the Texas GOP.
