Michael Moore’s latest film Fahrenheit 11/9 was supposed to take President Trump down, but instead it was a colossal flop. Moore is trying desperately to make some money off of this stinker so he was recently in Italy promoting it, as if Italians really give a crap about a whiny anti-Trump movie. As part of the promotion the portly resister told an Italian audience just how stupid he thinks Americans are. Well, we are smart enough to not pay money to go see Moore’s latest film, so we got that going for us.
The Hollywood Reporter caught some Moore’s unhinged rantings at the Rome Film Festival, the 87th most prestigious film festival in the world.
Moore started by complaining about “the old white man who has been making the decisions since the beginning of our time,” apparently forgetting that he is also an old white man. I guess he didn’t make this complaint agains old white fat men, so maybe this wasn’t as big of a self-awareness slip as it seems.
Then Moore explained to the Italians how the US media makes Americans stupid, which is how we ended up with Donald Trump as President:
“If you allow rich corporations to buy up and control most of the media, and then put things on the media that are intended to appeal to the stupidity that’s in all of us, you will have a dumb-downed nation. The more you dumb [America] down, the more likely you are to end up with a Donald Trump,” said Moore.
This, in of itself, is a pretty dumb statement considering that most of the American media is liberal and did everything they could to demonize Trump and keep him from winning the 2106 presidential election. If the media was truly influencing how “dumb” Americans vote, Hillary Clinton would be in the White House right now.
Moore doubled down on his opinion that the American people are not very smart:
“The dumb act that [Trump] puts on, a lot of that is a pretend thing that he’s doing. I think that once the nation is already dumbed down, it’s easy for him to play the dumb act, and it’s entertaining,” said Moore.
In a weird way, Moore is actually complimenting Trump for being intelligent by saying he’s only pretending to be dumb. Now who’s dumb, Mikey?
Moore continued to demonstrate his own stupidity by rehashing the 2000 presidential election in which Al Gore won the popular vote but George W. Bush won the Electoral College vote, which is how the US actually picks presidents.
“Bush and Trump both lost the election. Both got the least number of votes. Al Gore won by a half a million votes. Hillary Clinton won by three million votes. If we were a democracy, they should have been the presidents,” Moore said.
But we’re not a democracy, we’re a Constitutional republic. At least Moore seems to indicate that he understands this, but then again maybe he doesn’t.
“Change can occur very quickly in a democracy. Literally, someone like Trump…can get behind the wheel of the car of democracy, and drive it right off the cliff, and that’s what I’m warning against here. We could be in the last days of democracy as we know it, and we need to fight against that as much as possible,” said Moore.
So first he says America is not a democracy and then he warns that Trump is destroying democracy. Good news, since we aren’t a democracy, it’s literally impossible for Trump to drive that “democracy car” off of a cliff. I hope that puts Michelle Moore’s mind at ease so he can get back to that exercise regimen and sensible diet he’s been ignoring in his effort to take Trump down.
Maybe the dumbest, but definitely the saddest, thing Moore did was trying to get the Italians to help him fight against President Trump. You want to talk about a group of people who seriously don’t give a shit about any of this and Italians are them. Moore’s attempt to topple the Trump administration is so pathetic that he’s begging the Italians to help him because Americans are too dumb to recognize his genius.
