The 1st Amendment is supposed to protect free speech, including unpopular speech, but in one Indiana town there’s a Constitutional blindspot. A white woman wrote a letter expressing her racist beliefs to her black neighbor, but in no way threatened anyone. She was however arrested for intimidation, stalking, and criminal mischief. Yes, this woman is horrible, but that shouldn’t make her a criminal. In the United States of America people are allowed to hold ugly views, which is why all liberals are not behind bars.
According to The Kokomo Tribune a family bought a house in Greentown, Indiana and were in the process of moving in when they got a letter from their 63-year-old white neighbor Deborah Cantwell. The news isn’t real specific about this family, but I get they impression that the mom and dad are white but they have a black adopted male child. There is also no word on how old this kid is.
In any case, here is the letter that Cantwell left in front of this family’s home:
No N*GGERS wanted in this neighborhood – THIS IS A WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD – some people find N*GGERS Stressful due to 33 years of NEGATIVE experience and it causes serious health issues – ANXIETY AND STRESS causes my health issues to worsen – I am under strict order to remain stress free – cannot be stress free if I have to look a the n*gger kid day in and day out…..
We moved here to a WHITE TOWN, ALL WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD – FOR HEALTH REASONS AMONG OTHER THINGS. THIS IS OUR FOREVER HOME, WE CANNOT AFFORD TO MOVE – BESIDES THIS IS MY DREAM HOME AND WE HAVE BEEN HERE FOR A VERY LONG TIME. PERHAPS YOU SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED THE NEIGHBORS BEFORE BRINGING A N*GGER KID INTO THIS NEIGHBORHOOD.
YOUR N*GGER KID IS NOT WELCOME…..just the sight of the child reminds me of all the things I live in this town to forget. Takes me back to the n*ggers that beat my sibling – bloody and bruised – and police saying they couldn’t do anything because they are black. That was just the beginning and it continued until we moved here 3 years ago when black kids bullied my grandchild – these kids had a rap sheet a mile long for bullying kids, the parents had lawsuits against them for the bullying – the black principal would do nothing, the bus company did nothing, and the police said they could do nothing because they were black. The kid finally had enough and decided to cut wrists. I look at your kid and I see the grandkid with white bandages on the wrists and the rage skyrockets…..your kid may be a nice kid but the sight sets off my anger, rage and distrust of how N*ggers never pay for their crimes – but a white kid always would…..cannot deal with the stress.

As I said, this woman is racist and also clearly unhinged, but there isn’t anything remotely resembling a threat in that letter.
The authorities disagree and arrested Cantwell on misdemeanor charges of intimidation and criminal mischief. In addition she was slapped with a restraining order that accuses her of stalking and orders her to have no contact with the family. Since she doesn’t appear to have committed any actual crimes, she was arrested and charged because she has racist views.
I’m not trying to defend this woman’s racism, just her right to be racist. In this country you can be a jerk, an asshole, a dick, a bitch, a c*nt, a commie, a Nazi, a racist, or any number of unpleasant things. You can also express this unpleasantness so long as it doesn’t cause harm to anyone else and hurt feelings don’t count or liberals would have all the rest of us behind bars.
This woman was arrested for expressing her unpopular beliefs which are protected by the 1st Amendment, so now all she has to do is kick back and wait for the ACLU to take up her cause. You know I’m kidding, right? The ACLU would take her case if she was an illegal alien accused of raping a toddler, but a white woman who expressed racism? Not a chance.
