Vagina Monologues Cancelled For Discriminating Against Women Without Vaginas

The Vagina Monologues is a play that is supposed to empower women by talking about their vaginas. I’m not sure how that is supposed to work, but that’s hardly the most baffling thing about this. A production of this play was cancelled by a Michigan university women’s group because it apparently discriminates agains transgender “women” who don’t have vaginas. No, seriously. This is a real thing. In related news, the women’s group also condemned Dick’s Sporting Goods for discriminating against transgender “men.”

MLive reports:

Eastern Michigan University’s Women’s Resource Center will no longer host productions of “The Vagina Monologues,” noting that the play’s version of feminism excludes some women.

The WRC announced its decision in an email, which came after the center evaluated responses from a survey. Survey respondents opposing the production consistently indicated they were concerned that the play centers on cisgender women, that the play’s version of feminism excludes some women, including trans women, and that overall, “The Vagina Monologue” lacks diversity and inclusion.

This is already pretty damn funny but it actually gets better:

The survey was launched as a result of conversations with current students, as well as feedback from a WRC workshop titled “Not all women have vaginas,” during the 2017-18 academic year.

Well actually all women do have vaginas. Those people with penises are called men. Putting on a dress doesn’t change what’s between a person’s legs.

The WRC considered altering the Vagina Monologues to include stories from transgender women, which would have been truly hysterical. I’d even go to a performance of the Vagina and Chix With Dix Monologues just to revel in its hilarious absurdity. Unfortunately the play can’t be altered because of those stupid copyright laws.

It’s not all bad. This episode has given us a fun new term to laugh at liberals even further:

“We feel that making this decision is in line with the WRC mission of recognizing and celebrating the diverse representations of women on campus along with the overall mission of the Department of Diversity and Community Involvement, in which the WRC is housed, of supporting and empowering minoritized students and challenging systems and structures that perpetuate inequities. We truly believe that it is important to center our minoritized students and this decision is in line with this mission driven value,” said the WRC.

Minoritized students? That’s too awesome.

“This created a need to ask the question: Do we still need ‘The Vagina Monologues?’ And, are ‘The Vagina Monologues’ still relevant to next generation feminists?” the WRC asked.

A better question is: Why does everything have to include every weirdo and creepy fringe group? There isn’t one piece of entertainment that would be made better by including every whiny sub-set of the professional victim classes. If transgender people are really this upset, they should come up with their own play talking about how they think that branch dangling between their legs is really a dug-out canoe.

Here’s what I find funniest of all about this: The Vagina Monologues is an empowering feminist play and women have fought for equal rights for generations. Now, because some gender-appropriating dudes feel excluded, this expression of womanhood has to be canceled. Once again penises and the patriarchy ruin it for everyone.
