We’ve heard this a million times from gun-grabbing democrats: “If gun control saves just one life, it’s worth it.” On the anniversary of the Parkland high school shooting, Florida congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell reiterated the democrats extremely low bar for obliterating the Constitutionally guaranteed right of gun ownership by saying if gun control can save one single life than Congress is going to do it. If the democrats’ goal is to simply save one life, there are many other more constitutional things they could pursue, but for some reason they like killing unborn babies and letting illegal immigrants run amok.
Rep. Mucarsel-Powell was on CNN promoting her party’s war on the 2nd Amendment. She was asked about how she felt on the one-year anniversary of the Parkland school shooting and about a universal gun control bill the House passed out of committee on Wednesday.
“There were many tears and Lucia McBath and I really felt we had done our part and kept our promises that we were not going to stop until we pass commonsense gun reform,” said Mucarsel-Powell.
Mucarsel-Powell then said it was her job as an elected official to “do what we can to avoid mass shootings.” She may want to go back and review what her job duties actually are, especially in relationship to the oath of office she took to uphold and defend the Constitution, because I can assure her that infringing on the 2nd Amendment ain’t part of it.
Whatever, she’s a democrat so things mean whatever she says they do. She then added this little bit of liberal logic to justify her unconstitutional gun control agenda:
“And I just want to say one thing for all the skeptics. Yes, universal background check may not avoid every single mass shooting, but if we can save just one life passing this bill, then that is what we are going to do right here in this Congress,” said Mucarsel-Powell.
Well shit, if they are just trying to save one life, there’s lots of other areas they could explore that doesn’t involve setting the Bill of Rights on fire. Illegal immigrants have killed around 4,000 people over the past two years, so commonsense immigration enforcement would save thousands of lives. There are almost 900,000 abortions every year in the US, so commonsense pro-life legislation would save almost a million lives annually.
Oh, I just got it. Democrats don’t want to save thousands or millions of lives, their goal is to save just one life. Maybe they could come up with a bill that forbids anyone with the last name Kennedy from driving drunk near water or a ban on anyone named Clinton from staging suicides. Sure, those laws wouldn’t have stopped Ted Kennedy from killing Mary Jo Kopechne or Hillary Clinton from “suiciding” Vince Foster, but it just may prevent the next one.
What makes this the dumbest thing ever is that a universal background check won’t save even one life. Mucarsel-Powell says the purpose of the bill is to “avoid mass shootings” which is an odd way of putting things. Not one single mass shooting would have been avoided by this bill as all of the shooters passed background checks and purchased their firearms legally.
The real purpose of gun control is to disarm law-abiding people, which not only doesn’t save lives but would cost them. Criminals don’t give a f*ck about what the law says so they’ll keep their guns, which they will use on the good people who have been stripped of their best means of self-defense by 2nd Amendment-hating democrats.
