Elite Parents Gamed the System by Exploiting Medical Disabilities for Their Coddled Kids

Wealthy parents “looking for an edge” for their kids “abused” the college admissions system by “claiming their kids had medical disabilities” that they never had, Fox News host Laura Ingraham said Wednesday night on “The Ingraham Angle.”

The scandal dubbed “Operation Varsity Blues” first rocked the nation on Tuesday.

Federal authorities accused some 50 elites — including Hollywood celebrities and company CEOs — of participating in a scam by shelling out millions of dollars to ensure their children were admitted to top colleges across the country. College administrators and test proctors also allegedly participated in the scam and accepted bribes.

Actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, known for the shows “Desperate Housewives” and “Full House,” respectively, were swept up into the scandal.

The parents involved allegedly paid bribes to counselors, coaches and proctors to get their children into schools including Yale, Stanford and the University of Southern California. And some of the parents allegedly paid college prep business founder William “Rick” Singer to correct their children’s SAT or ACT scores.

Authorities also allege that Singer used bribes to get some of the kids into colleges by having them pose as athletes.

The New York Times reported that “the conspiracy relied on the parents getting medical documentation that would entitle their children to extra time on the test, an accommodation normally made for students with disabilities.”

Report: ICE Agents Given Access to Private License Plate Database….

The more important lead story of this article is buried within the outcome story of ICE agents using a private license plate database to capture illegal aliens.

Keep in mind, what we are talking about here is a private sector tracking database; something that might trigger long-time CTH readers to remember from several years past (2013-2014). As an outcropping of an unrelated story, we went deep, very deep, into the assembly of a nationwide private database as it was being constructed.

Use a private-sector database to track down people for missed property tax payments; or use the database to track lawful gun owners; or use the database to stop a traveler from entering an airport until they pay an unpaid parking fine, and hey, no biggie. But start using that private database to arrest illegal aliens…. and Whoa, now the ACLU says we’ve got a problem.

Hey, at least now they are admitting the database exists. Considering how strongly everyone denied it was being established six years ago, well, that’s progress I guess.

New Legislation Would End Women’s Bathrooms, Changing Rooms – In The Name Of Equality

Donald Trump Jr. is exactly right: when female athletes train their whole lives to be the best at their sport, only to be denied their rightfully earned victory — as well as opportunities for scholarship money — by men who enjoy the performance-enhancing advantages of XY chromosomes, it is indeed a “grave injustice.”

But this week, Democrats have introduced legislation to normalize such injustice on a national level through an Orwellian twist of language, calling their bill the “Equality” Act. This bill would make sweeping changes to civil rights laws, replacing our cherished values of freedom and liberty with intimidation and authoritarianism.

Last month, a Connecticut high school girl lost her opportunity to compete in front of college coaches when two biological males predictably finished in the top two spots at the girls’ indoor state track championships, thanks to the Connecticut athletic conference’s policy allowing transgender students to compete according to whatever sex they identify as, rather than as their biological sex.

This wasn’t an isolated incident, either. A male collegiate runner who competed on the men’s team before switching to the women’s team in 2018 is now setting records as one of the top-ranked NCAA women’s sprinters. Two women were recently edged out of the top spot at the women’s cycling world championships by a biological male. A female MMA fighter had her skull crushed by a transgender male competitor. The list of abuses goes on. And don’t you dare speak out against it — former tennis star and lesbian rights advocate Martina Navratilova was recently labeled “transphobic” for saying it is unfair for men to compete against women.

How Do You Solve a Problem Like Rashida?

Upon her accession to the U.S. House of Representatives last fall, practically the first words out of Rashida Tlaib’s mouth were: “We’re going to go in there and we’re going to impeach the motherf—er.” The object of the freshman Michigan Democrat’s derision was, of course, President Trump. This sentiment naturally got whoops and cheers from the guests at a MoveOn.org reception, who were there to celebrate the election of the Muslima from Dearbornistan, one of two female followers of Mohammed—the other is Ilhan Omar—now occupying chairs in the Capitol.

The triumphalism was multi-layered: not only had the Democrats—thanks, Paul Ryan!—retaken the House by both hook (free stuff for everybody except old toxic-male white guys, served up piping hot by the media) and crook (ballot harvesting in California that delivered once solidly Republican Orange County over to the Democrats) but, in the guise of “diversity,” they had also put two more co-religionists of the 9/11 hijackers into the Congress. Tlaib and Omar have wasted no time in getting to work against American norms and the republic itself.

Omar, born in Mogadishu, has been getting most of the attention lately; her unfiltered mouth can’t help but spout anti-Semitic drivel, and a recent attempt by a flailing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to rein her via a resolution against Jew hatred wound up as a boilerplate denunciation of “bigotry”—thus handing Omar a propaganda victory. As Britain’s hard-left Guardian put it in a headline: “Everyone’s against bigotry, right? Not 23 House Republicans, apparently.” Well played.

But Tlaib may be the more dangerous of the pair, cannily redoubling efforts to blame some (Jewish) Democrats’ antipathy to Omar’s casual slurs on . . . you guessed it: “I think Islamophobia is very much among the Democratic Party as well as the Republican Party. And I know that’s hard for people to hear, but there’s only been four members of Congress that are of Muslim faith. Three of them currently serve in this institution. More of us need to get elected, but more of us need to understand as we come into this institution that I have a lot of work to do with my colleagues.”

America’s Largest Organized-Labor Group Shreds AOC’s Green New Deal

The AFL-CIO, America’s largest organized-labor group, slammed socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) Green New Deal in a letter to her and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), stating that the far-left plan could “cause immediate harm to millions of our members and their families.”

We welcome the call for labor rights and dialogue with labor, but the Green New Deal resolution is far too short on specific solutions that speak to the jobs of our members and the critical sections of our economy,” the letter from the AFL-CIO Energy Committee states. “It is not rooted in an engineering-based approach and makes promises that are not achievable or realistic.”

“We will not accept proposals that could cause immediate harm to millions of our members and their families,” the letter continued. “We will not stand by and allow threats to our members’ jobs and their families’ standard of living go unanswered.”
