During the Obama years, Al Sharpton was at the top of the race-hustling heap. He visited the White House hundreds of times and was Obama’s go-to guy on black people stuff. Then, Black Lives Matter knocked him off the throne and the Age of Trump banished him into near obscurity. There is a ray of hope for Sharpton in gaining back some relevancy as all the major 2020 democratic candidates are lining up to kiss his ring ass because the left hasn’t quite figured out that he’s a complete fraud.
The Hill didn’t a little interview with Sharpton, making this announcement: 2020 Dems audition for Al Sharpton’s support
Audition? Like American Idol for panderers? Yeah, pretty much:
The leading Democratic candidates for president will be auditioning before Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network this week — a testament to both the importance of the black vote and Sharpton’s increasingly mainstream image.
The four-day convention, which begins in New York on Wednesday, includes Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) among its speakers.
Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D), former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro (D) — all 2020 candidates — will also be appearing.
No Joe Biden, but he hasn’t officially announced his candidacy yet, plus Sharpton probably doesn’t want the former VP fondling him and smelling his pompadour.
So what exactly to these democrats have to do to get the Sharpton seal of approval?
“I want to hear substance. I don’t want to hear sound bites. Like, yes, we need to alter the criminal justice system. How? What would you do about the mandatory sentencing laws? What would you do about police reform? Would you reinstitute consent decrees?” Sharpton said.
Reading between the lines, what Sharpton really wants is tribute in the form of cash and power. Whichever candidate promises him the most lucrative package gets the nod. Something he reinforced with this statement:
“I want to hear specifics. Where’s the meat? Not just giving us the dessert,” said Sharpton.
Yeah, but he wants that dessert too and we all know what that means.
In addition, Sharpton wants slave reparations, something most of the 2020 dems have already come out to support:
“Clearly, we have got to define what we are talking about when we talk about reparations. Clearly, something should be done, in my judgement,” Sharpton said.
I’d be willing to bet that he defines reparations as a big fat tax-exempt check to his National Action Network that can be funneled into his own personal account.
Oddly enough, Sharpton gave some props to President Trump, though unintentionally:
“I want to hear in terms of the economy, how do you close the race gap in employment? Yes, black unemployment is lower than it’s ever been, but it’s still double that of whites,” said Sharpton.
So black unemployment is lower than it’s ever been? And Donald Trump is the President who made that happen? Why do black people continue to vote for democrats when they haven’t done shit to help the black community? It must be because blacks are still mad at the Republican for slavery, the KKK, and segregation. Oh wait, that was the democrats, wasn’t it? I’m at a loss on this one.
Making this thing entirely stupid, democrats are lining up for Sharpton’s blessing and he probably won’t even endorse them:
“I may. National Action Network will not, but I may — late in the campaign. I endorsed Obama in late ’07. I did not make an endorsement in ’16. But I think that it’s important that we deal with this whole presidency of Trump, so I may do something late this year,” Sharpton said.
So NAN won’t endorse a candidate and Sharpton has only ever endorsed Obama who is black? I’m guessing he’ll endorse either Kamala Harris or Cory Booker who are also black. It seems kind of pointless for the non-black candidates to show up and kiss Sharpton’s ass knowing he will never endorse them.
It also seems like a waste of time for democrats to spend so much time pandering for the black vote. Blacks don’t always vote, but when the do they prefer donkeys.
