It’s a well-established fact that conservatives give more money to charity than liberals do so it’s probably not surprising that the 2020 democratic presidential candidates didn’t donate very much to charitable organizations. Democrats are great at taking our money and giving it away, but when it comes to their own cash? No chance. The one real shocker here is at how little these self-righteous virtue-signalers actually gave.
That newspaper from Washington, owned by that rich guy who cheats on his wife, broke this story, but since they put all of their content behind a paywall they won’t be getting a link from me. Besides, it’s just numbers so it’s not like I’m quoting anything. In any case, here’s how much of their income some of the 2020 dems donated to charity in 2017:
Beto O’Rourke – 0.31%
Kamala Harris – 1.4%
Kirsten Gillibrand – 1.7%
Amy Klobuchar – 1.9%
Bernie Sanders – 3.4%
Jay Inslee – 4%
Elizabeth Warren – 5.5%
To put this in perspective, people who make $100,000 a year or less donate around 9% of their income. Millionaires, of which many of the candidates qualify, generally donate about 5.6% of their earnings. Only Elizabeth Warren came close and I’m sure she counted the expense of her DNA test as a charitable donation.
This list is very sad, but Beta O’Dork’s lack of contribution is shameful. He only gave one-third of 1%? He’s really a man of the people isn’t he? The only thing I can think of is he donated his furry costume to the Goodwill and estimated its value as somewhere around $100. That and maybe he dropped a couple of coins into the “take a penny leave penny” jar at Whataburger.
O’Rourke wasted $100 million of other people’s money losing a Senate bid against Ted Cruz, but he couldn’t even give 1 measly percent of his own money to a good cause. Does this make you want to put him in charge of the country?
To add some perspective to this, people can write off charitable donations up to 50% of their adjusted gross income. These democrats could have donated so much money and then got it back in a lower tax debt or even a tax refund. It wouldn’t have cost them a thing and they still didn’t do. That shows you how little these democrats really give a shit about people.
The democrats on this lists were too lazy to even set up a sham charitable donation that would at least make it look like they cared. A few years ago the Clintons released their taxes and it showed the donated $1.1 million to charity, which seems impressive. Unfortunately, that charity was the Clinton Foundation, so they donated over a million dollars to themselves and then got it back as a tax deduction,which sounds way less impressive.
Getting back to Beta O’Dork, a lack of charity isn’t his only issue. He just released 10 years of tax returns and it turns out he falsely claimed medical expense deductions in 2013 and 2014, underpaying his taxes by $4,000:
In those two years, O’Rourke and his wife, Amy, reported a total of $15,718 in medical expense deductions. However, at the time, people under 65 could only take the deduction if their medical expenses exceeded 10 percent of their adjusted gross income, and the O’Rourkes’ expenses didn’t exceed that threshold.
He may not be an Al Sharpton-level tax-cheat, but then again he’s a slacker doofus so this probably due to laziness. He can’t be bothered to give to charity and he’s too chill to really get into defrauding the government.
It shouldn’t be lost on the American voters that all of these democrats are running on socialist platforms to take our money and give it away to others. They want to impose “free” health care, “free” college tuition, “free” abortions, and all kinds of other “free” shit that costs a ton of money. I guess it’s a lot easier giving away other people’s money, huh?
