Homelessness in California, and particularly in SF and LA, is a major problem, but thankfully the liberals in charge have real-life solutions. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has effectively ended homelessness in the city by planting a mural and encouraging people to walk. If you don’t understand how that fixes everything, you’re probably one of those alt-right Nazi guys with a MAGA hat.
Democrats think that they can stop criminals from committing crime by punishing law-abiding citizens, so it’s no surprise that this is what they consider a reasonable fix to a real problem:
To end homelessness, we have to recognize our common humanity. The #DearNeighborLA murals send a strong message of support for housing homeless Angelenos. The first mural highlights LaShawn, a homeless mother in South L.A. who is working to provide for her son. pic.twitter.com/0wmg5LbrLB

Presumably Los Angeles paid some artists to paint these murals and I can’t help but to think that the money could have went to LaShawn to help her get a place to live. I also have a hard time believing that painting a couple of ugly murals will do anything to solve the homeless crisis that is currently affecting Los Angeles. In the simplest of terms, people are homeless because they don’t have homes, and some paint on a wall doesn’t provide them with homes.
If that liberal solution seems like a dud, don’t worry Mayor Garcetti has an ace up his sleeve:
We need to bring #EveryoneIn to end the homelessness crisis. And we can all be champions for change! Join thousands of Angelenos coming together at @LAUnitedWay‘s #HomeWalk2019 on May 18.

Well shit, it’s so stupid it’s genius. All we have to do to end homelessness is to get people with homes to walk or run and suddenly everyone has a place to live. Wait, what? Trying to make sense out of a liberal solution causes a conservative brain to get an aneurism, so let’s not ponder this too long.
In related news, the LA Times tells us: L.A.’s homelessness surged 75% in six years.
With a helpful reminder:
The problem has only gotten worse since Mayor Eric Garcetti took office in 2013 and a liberal Democratic supermajority emerged in 2016 on the county Board of Supervisors.
“The reason I’m optimistic … are the unprecedented resources. You’ve got to make sure you’re not just pushing the problem from place to place,” said Mayor Garcetti.
To be fair, this LA Times article was written a year ago and way before Mayor Garcetti came up with the mural/walking solutions to homelessness. To be accurate, LA passed a massive $4.6 billion tax hike to deal with the homeless crisis and all Garcetti can think of to do with that money is to paint murals and encourage people to walk.
I live in the Los Angeles area and know very well about the homeless problem and the causes of it. First and foremost, this is one hell of an expensive place to live. You can expect to pay of a thousand bucks a months for a one-room efficiency in a shitty crime-ridden neighborhood. If you want to live some place decent, we’re talking $3,000 for a small apartment.
To compound the problem, LA and California have so many bullshit regulations that building affordable housing is virtually impossible. There is basically a fixed number of residences and the demand for those places is very high, which means the cost of housing is unreasonable expensive.
On top of that, the vast majority of homeless are either mentally ill or substance abusers. Los Angles has tons of great freebies and they have made it illegal to remove bums from public property, which acts like a scumbag magnet. Great weather, hand-outs, and no accountability makes LA a very attractive place to be homeless.
There are a lot of things that would help solve the homeless problem in LA, but the biggest would be to get rid of all of the democrats in charge. As long as liberals run the show, there won’t be anything resembling affordable housing in Los Angeles. With an endless supply of taxpayer money, the best they can come up with is murals and fun runs.
Then again I may be guilty of not giving Gracetti’s plans to work. Maybe we can stop inner-city gang violence with crappy un-rhyming poetry. Perhaps we can solve the opioid crisis with a garbage community theater play. If all goes well we can do something about illegal immigration by holding a big old quilting party.
