No, this is not surprising. But Kameltoe Harris just won’t shut up about her anti-gun ambitions should she be elected President. But she took her lunacy even further today during a campaign event in which she promised to ban importation of “AR-15 style assault weapons” . . . whatever that means.

At a presidential campaign event Wednesday in New Hampshire, Harris pledged to take executive action banning the importation of AR-15-style assault weapons — a move that came just three weeks after the California Democrat rolled out her sweeping gun-control proposal.
Excuse me, what? Banning the importation of ARs? I’m not sure how she thinks that could be even slightly effective, considering how many wonderful manufacturers of these weapons build them right here in the USA. But as she is a democrat, I guess a lack of intelligence is to be expected.
“When we look at the issue of assault weapons, let’s be very clear: Assault weapons are designed to kill a lot of people in a very short period time,” Harris said in Nashua. She added: “We cannot any longer afford to allow people to make this a partisan issue. Those guns, those assault weapons, do not discriminate and determine, OK, is the the person pointing it at a Democrat or a Republican. This can no longer be a partisan issue.”
So firearms can’t think for themselves? Who knew? My darling Kameltoe, the issue is not about your so-called “assault weapons,” it never has been. AR-15s are inanimate objects. The problem is that there are a few unhinged criminals out there who, on realtively few occasions when compared with other gun crimes, illegally misused them. The problem is with THOSE people, not us law-abiding gun owners. Don’t punish us for something we didn’t do.
Harris — a former career prosecutor who appears intent on owning the gun issue in the crowded primary — said if Congress fails to pass stricter gun laws in her first 100 days as president, she would act on her own. She floated executive orders requiring near-universal background checks on gun sales, closing the so-called “boyfriend loophole,” reversing the Trump administration’s move to allow fugitives with outstanding arrest warrants to buy guns, and repealing a law that prevents victims from holding gun-makers and firearms dealers liable for their losses.
Harris has faced significant competition since she unveiled her original plan. Last week, Cory Booker released a 14-part proposal calling for licensing all gun owners that the New Jersey Democrat’s supporters are touting as the most aggressive of any of the presidential candidates. Booker’s gun-licensing program would require, among other things, a comprehensive FBI background check and proof of completion of a gun-safety course. On Tuesday, Booker put out details of what he’s calling a gun suicide prevention plan.
His “suicide prevention” plan is really just an excuse to pass more draconian gun laws on everyone. “Cory’s proposal for gun licenses would make it more difficult for those at risk of suicide to purchase a firearm. If you need a license to drive a car, you should need one to own a gun. Securing a federal license would require a background check, firearm safety training, and an in-person appointment.” Yes, you need a license to drive a car. Of course driving a car isn’t a right guaranteed in the Constitution is it Booger?
The uptick in mass shootings has elevated the issue of gun control in the 2020 primary, assuaging long-held fears of many Democrats that taking a tougher stand against firearms could cost them votes in the general election. Booker and Harris have taken an early lead on the issue — with Booker promising to bring “the fight to the NRA like it’s never seen before.” “In fact,” Booker’s campaign added in a Monday news release, “the National Review took the time to print four pieces (and numerous tweets) attacking Cory.”
Yet while Booker is largely focused on gun-control priorities that require congressional approval, Harris’ unilateral approach is directed at years of inaction in Washington amid repeated high-profile mass shootings — from Las Vegas in 2017 to the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla., in 2016. In both cases, her campaign said, the shooters used assault-weapons made by foreign companies, 4 million of which are in U.S. circulation.
Whatever. My Smith&Wesson M&P 15X suits me just fine and it’s made right here. And furthermore, it hasn’t ever killed anyone. It just sits there next to my bed waiting for the next time I take it out to go shooting at tin cans, targets, or Hillary bobble-heads. Or, if need be, to defend my home against intruders. But as of yet, no kills. And that’s how I’d like it to stay. And that’s how it will stay unless someone invades my home.
Harris wants to ban AR-15-style assault weapon imports and suspend all other assault weapon imports until the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives can analyze whether they should be permanently banned under U.S. law. Her campaign argues the weapons could be banned because they aren’t “suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.” This includes all 44 AR-type models listed in the latest assault weapons ban that was introduced in Congress.
Not suitable for sporting purpose? I don’t recall that being a stipulation in the 2nd Amendment. The fact is, the AR-15 is one of the most versatile firearms in existence. So it’s not “adaptable” for three gun shooting competitions? Casual plinking? Target shooting? Varmint control? Hog hunting? Those seem like sporting activities to me.
Harris has said she will also work to make gun trafficking a federal crime, ban high-capacity magazines and bar those convicted of a federal hate crime from buying guns.
There is no such thing as a “high-capacity” magazine. There are only normal capacity magazines, and as in states like California, limited capacity magazines. Which is just one of the many reasons I moved from there. And go ahead, make gun trafficking a federal crime, bar hate criminals form buying guns. Like all your proposed gun laws do you really think that’s going to stop criminals from doing what’s already illegal?
