Okay, I’m guilty of fake news. This isn’t shocking at all. Joe Biden has a history of racism, including being opposed to racial integration, and the Congressional Black Caucus doesn’t care at all. I’m sure if Biden were a Republican it would be an issue, but because he’s a democrat, it’s all good. I wonder what racist thing a white democrat would have to do before black democrats would actually be offended. Supporting segregation, wearing blackface, and owning slaves won’t do it, so it must be something unthinkable.
Back in 1975, in his first term as a Senator from Delaware, Biden was vehemently against integrating black students in white schools. He said putting black students in with white kids would stunt the white kids’ intellectual growth.
“What it says is, ‘In order for your child with curly black hair, brown eyes, and dark skin to be able to learn anything, he needs to sit next to my blond-haired, blue-eyed son.’ That’s racist!” Biden said.
To ‘desegregate’ is different than to ‘integrate.’ I am philosophically opposed to quota systems. They insure mediocrity,” said Biden.
“I do not buy the concept, popular in the ’60s, which said, ‘We have suppressed the black man for 300 years.’ I don’t feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather. I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation. And I’ll be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago,” Biden said.
Okay, you get the idea. Biden did not like the idea of putting black kids in school with white kids.
The Hill did an interview with Congressional Black caucus member Rep. Bobby Scott and asked the Virginia democrat if he would have voted for Joe Biden 40 years ago when he was saying these things.
“I think we should consider it, but we’re not voting 40 years ago. We’re voting today and what position someone had 40 years ago I don’t thinks should be dispositive,” Scott said. “You can consider it, I think we’re voting today and the issue would be what are the issues and what are the positions that he’ll take going forward, not looking backwards,” said Scott.
In other words, he doesn’t care that Biden was (is?) an anti-integration racist because he’s a democrat.
The Hill had a similar thought and asked Scott if this was his position was because of Biden’s political party.
“Would you afford that same charity to a Republican lawmaker?” The Hill asked.
“You have to remember that George Wallace when he last ran for governor received 90 percent of the African American vote in Alabama. That’s because he changed his positions and looking forward they had more confidence in him than his opponent.”
Really? He’s going to use George Wallace, a democrat, to show how black people can look past a Republican’s racist history? Wallace was a 4-term governor of Alabama and a rabid segregationist. He was known as “the most dangerous racist in America” and ran unsuccessfully for president 4 times (3 as a democrat, 1 as an independent).
Wallace became a born-again Christian and apologized for his racist views, but he did not run as a Republican in his final term as governor as Rep. Scott suggests. Here’s some fun from the 1982 election courtesy of Wikipedia:
Wallace won the Democratic nomination by a margin of 51 to 49 percent. In the general election, his opponent was Montgomery Republican Mayor Emory Folmar.
If Wallace won the democratic nomination and ran against a Republican, that means he was a democrat, not a Republican.
And that brings us back to Scott saying blacks would forgive a Republican’s racism by pointing out that black people voted for a racist democrat. All that does is reinforce the fact that blacks don’t care how racist a guy is as long as he has a “D” after his name.
As a democrat, Joe Biden is immune from his own racism but it gets better because his political affiliation keeps the scrutiny off of his sexual predation too. The same hysterical feminists who would cry “rapist!” if Biden were a Republican, don’t care about his inappropriate touching of women and groping of little girls. Being a democrat means never having to apologize for being horrible.
