Angry Mob Boos Democrats For Denouncing Socialism

If there was any doubt that socialism is the winning platform for the democratic party nomination in 2020, a couple of candidates were booed by the base for denouncing it. Both John Hickenlooper and John Delaney told an audience of rabid liberals that socialism may not be the wisest thing to run on in the general election and they were chased through the town square by villagers with torches and pitchforks. Remember this moment in November 2020 when Trump wins reelection by a landslide.

At the California Democratic Convention in San Francisco, all of the 2020 candidates were given the opportunity to address the loonies. Anyone promising “free” stuff got a standing ovation, but those unfortunate souls who tried to be reasonable and practical were heckled off the stage.

Here’s former US Rep. John Delaney getting savaged for suggesting Medicare-For-All is a bad idea:

“Medicare for all may sound good but it’s actually not good policy nor is it good politics,” started Delaney.

And the boos came raining down.

“We should have universal health care, but it shouldn’t be a kind of healthcare that kicks 150 million Americans off their healthcare. That’s not smart policy,” Delaney said.

Smart policy? Does he understand who he was talking to? They don’t want smart policy, they want free shit.

“I want everyone to have health care but it’s got to be a plan that works for every American,” Delaney finished.

He’s a witch! Burn him! The fact that Delaney is in favor of universal health care, just not Medicare-For-All, shows that the formerly socialist policy of universal health care is no longer socialist enough for the socialists. Go figure.

Delaney got off light compared to the reaction Colorado governor John Hickenlooper got when he dared badmouth the S-word:

“If we want to beat Donald Trump and achieve big progressive goals, socialism is not the answer,” said Hickenlooper.

Geez, you’d think with all the booing that Hickenlooper just said babies should be allowed to live.

“We shouldn’t try to achieve universal coverage by removing private insurance from 150 million Americans. We shouldn’t try to tackle climate change by guaranteeing every American a government job,” Hickenlooper said.

And of course there were more boos because clearly Hickenlooper is a heretic.

Hickenlooper tried to clarify his remarks to The Hill:

“If we don’t draw a clear distinction between Democrats and our candidates and socialism, the Republicans will paint us into a corner that we can’t get out of. Massive government expansions may not be strictly speaking socialism, but trust me: Republicans will make it seem like socialism. In places like Ohio and Michigan and North Carolina and Wisconsin, places we have to win to beat Trump, we’ll be starting out ten yards behind,” said Hickenlooper.

Relax liberals. Hickenlooper isn’t against socialism, he just recognizes that the democrats need to pretend their socialist bullshit isn’t socialism to beat Trump.

This is crazy, but bodes well for the Republicans in 2020. Both Delaney and Hickenlooper are pro-abortion, anti-gun, universal health care nuts and they aren’t close to being bonkers enough for the Democratic Party. Whoever does end up with the nomination is going to be such a leftist extremest that they will be trounced in the general election. Progressive is out and full-blown socialism is in.
