Is The Jig Up? Special Prosecutor To Investigate Jussie Smollett Cover-Up

In a stunning new development, a special prosecutor will be taking a look into the controversial decision to drop charges against actor Jussie Smollett who orchestrated a hate crime hoax that became a cause championed by multiple 2020 Democrat presidential contenders who called it a modern-day lynching.

A Cook County, Illinois judge has called for the appointment of the special prosecutor to re-investigate the case as well as potential misconduct from the office of embattled State Attorney Kim Foxx which ordered that the indictment on sixteen felony counts be thrown out; a move that infuriated Windy City police.

The renewed scrutiny could lead to escalating racial tensions in a city that has been wracked with violence and regularly leads the nation in murders, all at the beginning of what promises to be a long, hot summer with Democrats standing at the ready to pour gasoline on the fire with their incitement and pandering to black voters.

Things could explode into full-blown riots if the decision comes down to charge the star of the hip hop entertainment drama “Empire” or even Foxx herself criminally.

Via The Chicago Tribune, “The bizarre Jussie Smollett case takes yet another strange twist”:

In a blistering and somewhat unexpected ruling, a veteran Cook County judge ordered a special prosecutor appointed to re-investigate the circumstances of the onetime “Empire” actor’s alleged hoax attack on a frigid January night in downtown Chicago.

In doing so, Judge Michael Toomin blasted State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s handling of the prosecution, saying her botched decision to appoint her top deputy to prosecute Smollett after recusing herself invalidated the case from start to finish.

The rare move to appoint a special prosecutor marks the first step in what promises to be a full-blown probe of how Foxx’s office made the controversial decision to drop the disorderly conduct charges against Smollett just weeks after he was indicted.

The investigation will surely keep the Smollett case in the national headlines for months and could cast a cloud over Foxx’s bid for re-election next year.

It also raised the specter that Smollett could be charged all over again for what Chicago police determined to be a staged attack he orchestrated on himself because of dissatisfaction over his pay on the Fox series.

Smollett’s claims that he was assaulted on a freezing morning by two “Trump supporters” wearing red MAGA hats who berated him with homophobic and racial slurs, tied a “noose” around his neck and poured bleach on him were immediately pounced on by a media that drools over stories that could paint President Trump as a racist who has encouraged violence but the authorities smelled a rat.

Diligent investigative work led to two Nigerian brothers who Smollett paid to help him stage the attack and after being taken into custody, fessed up as to their role in the scam.

Surveillance video also emerged of Ola and Abel Osundairo at the counter of the store that sold them the items that they used as props in the “attack” and by all appearances, Smollett’s goose looked to be cooked – until Foxx’s office intervened.

Where this goes nobody knows but Foxx is up for re-election next year and don’t expect her – or Smollett – to go down without a fight.
