Man, I thought Eric Swalwell was bad at running for president, but he ain’t got nothing on Beto O’Rourke. While all the rest of the 2020 democratic field is in Iowa annoying the crap out of people, the slacker doofus was campaigning in Mexico. He does understand that he’s running for the President of the United States, right? At the very least he should be pandering to the illegal aliens in this country because they can vote, while people in Mexico can’t.
Here’s a thing that Fox News reported with a straight face despite the hilarity of it all:
Former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke made his first foreign trip as a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination Sunday, traveling over the southwestern border to Mexico to visit with migrants who said they fled violence and turmoil in Central America to seek asylum in the U.S. only to be turned away at the border.
So walking across the border into Mexico is foreign trip? What, is O’Rourke trying to bolster his foreign policy credentials by slumming it with some losers who are so incompetent they can’t even sneak across our porous border?
This already a ridiculous story but it’s about to go full-Beto:
According to a pool report put out by the O’Rourke campaign, the candidate spoke to a group of asylum seekers in Spanish for about 15 minutes at a restaurant in Ciudad Juarez, across the Rio Grande from O’Rourke’s hometown of El Paso. The candidate then traveled to a shelter for migrants run by the Catholic Church, where he met around a table with migrants from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala who told of being denied entry into the U.S. and returned to the Mexican border city while their asylum claims were being processed.
Do you think there is even the slightest chance that any of these migrants know who Beta O’Dork is or even give a shit? Actually, I’d be willing to bet that they list meeting him as the worst hardship they’ve had to endure on their journey to sneak into America. The heat, the drug cartels, and the rape gangs were nothing compared to the 15 minutes O’Rourke spoke Spanish at them. Technically, this trauma might add some credibility to their asylum claims.
So what was O’Rourke’s message to these migrants? I bet he told them how to sneak across the border and gave them some ballots already filled out with the circle next to his name filled in. “If you get in, vote for me and I’ll give you free health care.”
Seriously, why in the hell is campaigning in Mexico? This is dumb even for him. The only message this sends to American voters is that O’Rourke cares way more about foreigners than US citizens. We already knew this about him, but if he wants to be presidnet, it’s something he’s going to have to do a better job of hiding.
Or maybe it has finally gotten through his thick skull that he will never be President of the United States or even the Democratic Party 2020 nominee. He was once a democrat rock star, but his stock has dropped significantly. Perhaps he’s campaigning in Mexico because he’s mulling a run at el presidente. I’m telling you, Mexicans find him as insufferable as Americans do and he’s in store for even more disappointment.
