Is Tom Steyer Running For President To Impeach Trump?

Billionaire weasel Tom Steyer announced a presidential campaign on Tuesday that literally nobody was asking for. He had previously said he wouldn’t run because he wanted to focus his efforts and vast fortune to impeach President Trump. Now he’s tossed his hat in the ring because he says he’s sick and tired of democrats dragging their feet on impeaching Trump. It appears the purpose of him running is to impeach Trump, but in the outside chance that he wins the presidency, impeaching Trump won’t be necessary. He seems dumb, but somehow he’s a billionaire. Life isn’t always fair.

Back in January Steyer ended non-existent speculation that he may run in 2020 by saying he was going to dump a bunch of money into his “Impeach Trump” campaign. That hasn’t panned out, mostly because there is no legal basis for impeaching Trump, so he is now running as a democrat to, I guess, impeach Trump. Not only is that insane, he’s a liar. Then again being crazy and full of shit are the only prerequisites for democratic party membership so he should fit in just fine.

He announced his candidacy with this video which is as boring as Steyer himself:

Much of this video is Steyer talking about how he, as a billionaire, wants to take the power away from the rich and give it to the people. Who better than a filthy stinking rich guy to to that, huh?

Just check out the way he sees this country:

“If this is a banana republic with a few very very rich people and everybody else living in misery, that’s a failure,” said Steyer.

I’m not very very rich or even kind of rich and somehow I don’t live in misery. In fact, I quite enjoy my life. While this sounds like Steyer is trying to relate to poor people, in reality it’s an insanely elitist statement. What he’s saying is that anyone who doesn’t have billions of dollars like him must be miserable. I’d be miserable if I had his face, but I’m fine without his money.

Steyer is committing $100 million of his own money to run this campaign, which makes his message even flatter. What he’s saying, without a hint of self-awareness is, “Democracy belongs to the people not the rich and I’m going to prove it by attempting to buy the White House.”

There’s a million (100 million) reasons why Tom Steyer’s presidential campaign will be a spectacular failure. The first being that there’s already over 20 democrats running for the party’s nomination. Nobody gives a shit that another guy just entered the race.

The biggest issue Steyer faces however is that nobody likes him. He has zero appeal and the personality of footstool. In a social setting, Tom Steyer is the last guy you’d want to talk to. You’d pick having a conversation with a feminist or a vegan at a party over Steyer. He’s boring and exhausting at the same time. Hillary Clinton proved in 2016 that likability is important in a presidential run.

What Steyer’s actual announcement today is that he intends on flushing $100 million down the toilet. Why not give that money to homeless vets so they can buy houses? The answer is because Steyer isn’t trying to help anyone, he trying to stoke his fragile ego. He’s about to find out how much everyone on both sides dislikes him, which should send him into a depression spiral that he won’t be able to buy his way out of.
