All of the 2020 democratic party candidates have terrible gun control plans ranging from crazy to absolutely f*cking crazy, but somehow Elizabeth Warren’s is the worst. She of course would ban everything and make it nearly impossible for people to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights, but she has upped the ante by saying she would use the power of the presidency to destroy the NRA. If Warren were elected president, she says she would sign various executive orders that would wipe out the nation’s oldest civil rights organization. I guess if she’s going to get rid of a civil right it makes sense to take out the right’s protector as well.
In a Medium post, Warren laid her unconstitutional gun control platform, which reads like a blueprint for imposing fascism on the United States. Weird, I thought she was a commie, but then again fascism isn’t that different.
She says her goal is to reduce “gun violence” by 80%, but her real endgame is to reduce gun ownership rights by 100%. After detailing a number of measures that would effectively put all gun manufacturers out of business, she turned her attention to The National Rifle Association:
I will break the NRA’s stranglehold on Congress by passing sweeping anti-corruption legislation and eliminating the filibuster so that our nation can no longer be held hostage by a small group of well-financed extremists who have already made it perfectly clear that they will never put the safety of the American people first.
The NRA fights for our gun ownership rights, which allow us to protect ourselves from violent criminals. Warren and the democrats want to disarm us, leaving violent criminals as the only ones with guns. That seems pretty clear to me that the only Americans whose safety matters to the democrats are the criminals.
Here’s what Warren will do specifically to attack the NRA:
Investigating the NRA and its cronies. The NRA is accused of exploiting loopholes in federal laws governing non-profit spending to divert member dues into lavish payments for its board members and senior leadership. I’ll appoint an attorney general committed to investigating these types of corrupt business practices, and the banks and third-party vendors — like Wells Fargo — that enabled the NRA to skirt the rules for so long.
Have you ever noticed how democrats describe “complying with the law” as “exploiting loopholes,” because I have. The NRA, a nonprofit organization, pays its employees a salary? Who ever heard of such a thing? Oh wait, every non-profit does this.
I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say if Warren were president and launched an investigation against the NRA that it would be one of the biggest abuses of power ever. She would be using her executive power to attack and destroy an organization she disagrees with. Imagine if Trump did this to the NAACP and you get the idea of how awful and unconstitutional this is.
Warren’s war against the NRA gets even worse:
Big money talks in Washington. And the NRA represents a particularly noxious example of Washington corruption at work. Over the last two decades, the NRA has spent over $200 million on lobbying Congress, influencing elections, and buying off politicians — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The NRA spends millions poisoning our political discourse with hateful, conspiracy-fueled propaganda, blocking even modest reforms supported by 90% of American voters.
When money and influence can override the will of a huge majority of Americans, that is corruption, pure and simple.
It’s time to fight back. I have proposed the most sweeping set of anticorruption reforms since Watergate — a set of big structural changes that includes ending lobbying as we know it and slamming shut the revolving door.
Did you catch that? Not only will she stop the NRA from lobbying, she’s going to silence their “conspiracy-fueled propaganda” as well. In other words, she will, through executive order, disallow the NRA’s 1st Amendment right to free speech and expression. Hey, if she’s taking out the 2nd Amendment, why not just burn the entire Bill of Rights?
The thing is, this action she plans on taking is NRA-specific. It won’t apply to pro-abortion lobbyists who BTW vastly outspend the NRA on lobbying and political campaign spending. I’m also certain anti-gun groups will also not be silenced.
