Obama may have been an ineffective leader, a lair, and a charlatan, but he does get certain things. Take for instance the fact that Joe Biden will never ever be President of the United States. Obama talked Biden out of running in 2016 and then tried to do the same thing for 2020, citing the massive potential for personal embarrassment. What? And deprive us of all the hilarity of Crazy Joe’s sputtering campaign. Thanks, Obama.
The New York Times did a lengthy piece about how Obama eventually chose mush-mouthed Joe to be his VP. One of the major reasons, and this is no joke, was because Biden had no chance of becoming POTUS. Obama didn’t want anyone who would upstage him and chose Biden because he had no political future.
That’s funny as hell already, but the comedy level goes up because Obama tried really had to stop running for president:
In 2016, Mr. Obama quietly pressured Mr. Biden to sit out the race, partly because he believed Mrs. Clinton had a better chance of building on his agenda, and partly because he thought Mr. Biden was in no shape emotionally following the illness and death of his son Beau in May 2015.
Bide is in no emotional state to order at the drive-through window and never has been. He’s insane and has been since day one.
When the 2020 campaign season came rolling around, Obama tried once again to stop Biden from running:
The two men spoke at least a half dozen times before Mr. Biden decided to run, and Mr. Obama took pains to cast his doubts about the campaign in personal terms.
“You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,” Mr. Obama told Mr. Biden earlier this year, according to a person familiar with the exchange.
But delusional people live in a fantasy world so Obama simply couldn’t get through to Joe, who was riding his mighty unicorn:
Mr. Biden — who thinks he could have defeated Donald Trump four years ago — responded by telling Mr. Obama he could never forgive himself if he turned down a second shot at Mr. Trump.
Biden never had a first shot at Trump, which is the only requirement for a second shot. Also any shot at all requires someone having a realistic shot, which Biden is lacking.
Since Biden wouldn’t listen to sound advice, Obama has been trying to at least get Joe to surround himself with competent people:
In his interactions with Mr. Biden — the pair had a quiet lunch in Washington last month — Mr. Obama has hammered away at the need for his campaign to expand his aging inner circle.
He has communicated his frustration that Mr. Biden’s closest advisers are too old and out of touch with the current political climate — urging him to include more younger aides, according to three Democrats with direct knowledge of the discussion.
Yesterday Biden’s people began floating the idea of hiding him from the public so he wouldn’t make an ass of himself. Clearly Biden has surrounded himself with people who understand what a liability Joe Biden is to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. I don’t know if this because of Obama’s influence or not, but it doesn’t stop it from being hysterical.
Obama apparently met with Biden’s team to make sure they were doing a good job. I’m guessing the answer is “no” because this is Obama’s report card on the campaign:
When they were done, Mr. Obama offered a pointed reminder, according to two people with knowledge of his comments:
Win or lose, they needed to make sure Mr. Biden did not “embarrass himself” or “damage his legacy” during the campaign.
There are a couple of ways to take that last part: either Obama is worried that Biden will embarrass himself and damage his own legacy or he is concerned Biden will embarrass Obama and damage the former president’s legacy. Either way: too late.
Biden is in a constant state of embarrassing himself and his only legacy is one of racism and flip-flopping so it can’t possibly be damaged. Biden is also a constant source of embarrassment for Obama and the former president has no legacy since his entire presidency was based on executive action that President Trump wiped out.
All of this does actually explain why Obama won’t endorse his former VP. Even Barack Obama, a man with no shame or self-awareness, is embarrassed by Crazy Joe Biden and in reality, that is an endorsement. Just not the good kind.
