Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks the way we elect presidents in this country is a total scam. The vapid New York Congressidiot says the Electoral College is a racist system that cancels out votes for people of color. Weird, I seem to remember this “racist” scam system putting a black guy in the White House in 2008 and then again in 2012. My guess is that it suddenly became a tool of white supremacy the second that Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump. That’s usually how liberal outrage works: everything is great until we lose then it’s racist.
AOC made some kind of video for Instagram that several outlets are reporting on, but not linking to. We’ll go ahead and The Hill’s word for the authenticity of this Instagram post.
Ocasio-Cortez was apparently riding in a car through a desolate stretch of desert being sarcastic that there weren’t millions of people basking in the hot sun.
“Alright everyone, it’s been a minute, we’re coming to you live from the Electoral College… Many votes here as you can see. A very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I can’t think of any other way, can you?” AOC said.
There are vast swaths of unpopulated areas in California, the state with the most EC votes of all. In fact, AOC could have actually been driving through the California desert when she made this stupid video.
From there it got in even dumber because AOC takes pride in her ignorance.
The freshman lawmaker said the Electoral College is a “scam” that has a “racial injustice breakdown” undermining the votes of people of color.
“Due to severe racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as apposed to a ‘one person, one vote’ system where all our votes are counted equally,” said Ocasio-Cortez.
Wait. You want more stupid? AOC’s got your back:
“Could you image if we had this kind democracy-altering ‘fairness’ provision for literally any other group? If we weighed, for example, black and indigenous voters more because of unfairness?” AOC asked.
Does she mean like if illegal aliens could vote for democrats? Yeah that would be unfair.
The actual scam here is AOC and her fellow democrats consistently misleading people that America is a direct democracy, which it is not. The Electoral College was put into place to keep power from consolidating in a few more populous states. Remember, we are the United States and all states should have a say in how we run things.
The other scam being perpetuated by AOC is that if your preferred candidate loses the election, your vote was canceled out. That’s not how it works. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. The results of a free and fair election shouldn’t be a personal insult, but it is to liberals.
In 1992 and 1996 when democrat Bill Clinton won, there was never any talk about the Electoral College being unfair. In 2000 and 2004 when George W. Bush won, suddenly the EC became a scam the robs most Americans of their voice. Luckily in 2008 and 2012 black guy Barack Obama won so the EC was once again good and not racist in any way. Then came 2016 and Donald Trump won so the Electoral College went back to being a racist scam that suppresses minority votes. Does anyone else notice a pattern?
AOC’s problem here is that she is operating under the false assumption that neutral systems are inherently unfair to certain people. When everyone has the same set of rules, everyone is treated the same. A black person’s vote counts just as much as a white person’s vote even under the Electoral College system of electing a president. Hillary Clinton had the same chance to win the presidency as Donald Trump, but she blew it.
