Illinois is the state where Jussie Smollett faked a hate crime, which included slipping a noose around his own neck. He was not charged with any crime for this hoax, but a student at an Illinois university was charged with a felony hate crime for tying a knot in a piece of rope that authorities claim was a noose. Smollett deceived the public, made a false police report, and cost authorities hundreds of thousands of dollars investigating. This student didn’t threaten anyone, cost authorities a dime, or even do anything illegal. This is what liberals mean when they talk about justice reform.
According to The Chicago Tribune, 19-year-old Andrew M. Smith, a junior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and a felony hate crime after he allegedly left a noose in the elevator of the residence hall on campus.
Now here’s what actually happened according to Champaign County Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Alferink: Smith was riding the elevator with a female friend when he noticed a piece of rope. He tied it into a “noose” and left it on the elevator. That’s it. That’s what prosecutors are calling disorderly conduct and felony hate.
I seriously doubt this guy actually tied a noose, because those aren’t the easiest things in the world to do. I once made a noose for a Halloween decoration and I had to watch a Youtube video a few times to get it right. It’s a very counterintuitive thing to tie a noose and unless someone has done it several times, they would have no idea how to successfully create one. That’s why I believe this student more than likely tied a knot in a rope, or maybe made some kind of a loop that definitely wasn’t a proper noose.
Even if he did tie a proper noose, so what? That’s not a crime. Hate crimes require context and victims, but he simply found a pice of rope, tied into something and left it where he found it. If he had hung the noose on the door of a black student then yes, that’s a hate crime. This however isn’t even a regular crime.
Oh, did I mention that Smith is white? Maybe that has something to do with why prosecutors are so eager to throw the book at him.

So when liberals and the 2020 democrats talk about “justice reform” what they mean is to stop putting black people in jail for crimes they have actually committed and imprisoning white people for stuff that isn’t illegal but they find offensive. The stated purpose of this reform is to make our streets safer and end racism, but like all liberals plans it will achieve the complete opposite.
Having a bunch of dangerous and violent criminals roaming free instead of being behind bars will make the streets much less safe and anyone who can’t understand that is an idiot or a liberal (same thing). Also, jailing white people for doing innocuous things and labeling them racist hate crimes is only going to create more racial resentment. Who is shocked that a democratic plan will not only fail to fix a problem but make it worse?
