“Hell yes we’re taking your AR-15” said Beto O’Rourke of his unconstitutional gun confiscation scheme. After that, the slacker doofus democrat gets a little light on the details about how he, if elected president, would steal tens of millions of firearms from law-abiding Americans, but he has indicated that law enforcement would “visit” people who refuse to comply. Beto’s plan gets a little more complicated because many of the major police unions in the country are telling him, “Hell no we’re not taking anyone’s AR-15.”
Gun rights champion Stephen Gutowski, writing for The Washington Free Beacon, spoke to the leaders of the major law enforcement unions in America, asking them what they thought about O’Rourke’s mandatory gun “buyback” plan.
In interviews with the Washington Free Beacon, leaders from groups representing hundreds of thousands of law enforcement officers described Beto’s gun confiscation plan as “ridiculous,” “asinine,” and likely unconstitutional.
“Ridiculous, asinine, and unconstitutional” also describes Beto O’Rourke. He should put that on bumpersticker.
Here’s what executive director of the Fraternal Order of Police, Jim Pasco, who represents 330,000 police officers, had to say:
“Mr. O’Rourke may not be aware that state and local police officers (who comprise more than 90% of all police in the U.S.) receive their orders from their local jurisdictions – not from the Federal government. Further, any such legislation, if it passed, would no doubt be vigorously litigated with a view to its apparent inconsistency with the Second Amendment,” said Pasco.
And Pasco took a shot at O’Rourke’s floundering presidential campaign:
“In view of the foregoing, and in view of Mr. O’Rourke’s current standing in the polls, we do not view this as an issue we will have to grapple within the foreseeable future,” Pasco said.
Ouch.
AJ Louderback, of the National Sheriffs’ Association, also had some bad news for O’Rourke:
“I think he’s seriously misjudging the law enforcement response to what he wants to do. Many sheriffs would not comply with his plan. This guy’s plan is ridiculous. Everyone is looking for solutions to violent crime but this isn’t one of them. I’m not going to harass my citizens for owning guns,” said Louderback.
Bill Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations found a bit of irony and hypocrisy in O’Rourke’s unconstitutional plan:
“It’s ironic that Beto O’Rourke, who was slamming police as ‘the new Jim Crow’ just a year ago, now finds a need for police when he wants to disarm individuals. Maybe poor Beto should spend less time live-streaming his visits to the dentist and attend a basics civics class instead. He’d be reminded that the very first law every police officer swears to uphold is the Constitution,” Johnson said.
Double ouch.
Another law enforcement union official, who asked for anonymity because he isn’t authorized to speak on behalf of the group, took it to “triple ouch”:
“I find it really telling now that someone who attacked law enforcement, even calling them Jim Crow, for his convenience is perfectly fine with sending them off into harm’s way to collect AR-15s. It’s just asinine,” said the official.
On the off-chance that Beto O’Rourke is elected president and can somehow pass an unconstitutional law from the Oval office to ban and confiscate semi-automatic rifles, it looks like he’ll be knocking on doors himself. Cops ain’t gonna help, so it’ll be up to him. Aside from being a coward who can’t back up his tough talk, O’Rourke also seems like he lacks the motivation and effort it would take to disarm America house-by-house.
