Who’s shocked that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t understand something? Nobody? The latest thing to baffle the dingbat NY Rep. is why police in riot gear show up when black people riot. It’s so confusing to her in fact that she thinks it’s downright racist. She also couldn’t understand why police and riot gear don’t show up when white people peacefully protested, and again she thinks this is racist.
There was a pro-gun rights rally in Richmond, VA that democrats and the media tried to portray as a violent white supremacist anti-government clash. The truth is, it was a peaceful protest in support of a Constitutional right. Facts be damned, AOC characterized it as a bunch of armed rednecks flying confederate flags as she spoke with reparations aficionado Ta-Nehisi Coates for some MLK Day thing:
“There’s this gun rights protest that’s happening down in Richmond, on MLK day, but here’s the image that has stuck with me the most about that: when we go out to march for the dignity and recognition of the lives of people like Freddie Gray and Eric Gardner, the whole place is surrounded by police in riot gear, without a gun in sight and here are all these people flying confederate flags with semi-automatic weapons, and there’s almost no police officers at that protest,” said Ocasio-Cortez.
First off, nobody was flying Confederate flags at the Richmond rally, just American flags. Second, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency in advance of the rally and banned firearms on the state capitol grounds so there’s that. Finally, there were in fact police officers all over the place.
AOC’s lies are significant but pale in comparison to her sheer ignorance. When Black Lives Matter took to the streets of NYC to “protest” Eric Garner, there was violence, destruction of property and chants of killing cops.
When black people “protested” Freddie Gray’s death in Baltimore, it was a full blown riot. 20 police officers were injured, 350 businesses including 27 drug stores were looted and destroyed. There were 60 structure fires and 150 vehicle fires.
By contrast, the pro-2nd Amendment rally in Richmond today was peaceful and attendees even cleaned up after themselves. Nobody got hurt, nothing was set on fire, and there was no looting.
This adds up to AOC not understanding why there were riot police in Baltimore but not Richmond. The easy explanation is that Baltimore was a violent riot and Richmond was a peaceful protest.
It gets worse for AOC because she says racism is why police in riot gear showed up to blacks rioting in Baltimore, but not to white people behaving themselves in defense of gun ownership rights. The implication is that AOC feels like the mostly-white pro-gun rally attendees should have had their skulls cracked in by riot police for supporting their 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
And with that, AOC adds two more things to her long list of crap she thinks is racist: It’s racist for cops to try to stop black people from destroying a city and it’s doubly racist when cops don’t assault peacefully assembled white people. She’s dumb and horrible.
