The Anti-Trump Resistance Is Really against the Deplorables

Via The American Thinker

The impeachment hullabaloo is clearly revealing the Left’s virulent hatred of President Donald Trump. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is blatantly on display for everyone to see, especially among the obnoxious Ivy League law professors featured last week in the media. What should be equally obvious is that while Trump is the symbol, the real object of the Left’s hatred is we — the average Americans whom Hillary called the “deplorables” and “irredeemables,” and the ones that Barack Obama claimed “cling to their guns and religion and have antipathy to people who aren’t like them.” Our values, our beliefs, our taste in music and food, our very existence offends the Progressives. They especially hate our patriotism and our support for America and the values that undergird our nation’s strength and buttress our position as “the greatest nation in the history of the world.” Progressives hate our vision of America as exceptional and blessed by God.

They hate that our vision of what America should be, what the Founders designed it to be, is contrary to what they thought was within their reach when Obama promised to “fundamentally transform” this country. They especially hate that we will not bow down to the supposed superiority of the elites, those who have gained control of the levers of power in the bureaucracy, Congress, educational hierarchies, the entertainment industry, and numerous other segments of culture and governance.

Elizabeth Warren Calls for Blue New Deal: ‘The World’s Oceans Are in Crisis’

Via Breitbart

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Tuesday called for a “Blue New Deal” – news that follows Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) dubbing his campaign “the climate campaign.”

“We need a #GreenNewDeal to fight the climate crisis—and we need a #BlueNewDeal to protect and restore our oceans so they are a part of our climate solution, and so we can rebuild our blue economy,” Warren wrote in a tweet linking to her comprehensive “Blue New Deal” plan:

“The world’s oceans are in crisis,” Warren writes, citing overfishing, warming waters, and an increase in pollution. While she argues that the Green New Deal is important, a Blue New Deal is also necessary, she argues, as “71% of our planet is covered by the ocean.”

Warren weaves some of her existing plans, such as her Green Manufacturing plan and Green Apollo Program, but calls for more spending to combat the impending “crisis.” She calls for spending $5 billion over ten years “to expand USDA’s Local Agriculture Market Program” as an effort to “rebuild the necessary infrastructure to once again support vibrant coastal communities and a local seafood economy” and vows to fight for a “fully funded Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.”

She also promises to direct the USDA to “create a new program dedicated to research and policy development for ocean-based farming, ensuring that ocean farmers, just like any other producers, are paid for their contributions to the fight against climate change.”

Additionally, Warren pledges to end offshore drilling, reduce ocean trash, and “make agribusinesses pay the full costs of the environmental damage they wreak by closing the loopholes that CAFOs use to get away with polluting and by beefing up enforcement of the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, including by working with state and local officials.”

Warren’s plan also plans to “streamline and fast-track permitting” for offshore renewable energy, which includes “making sure projects are sited with care based on environmental impact assessments.”

Warren concludes:

Starting on day one of my presidency, I will take bold action to fight climate change. And that includes harnessing the power of our oceans to be a key part of our solution to the climate crisis. The task before us is significant, but I am confident that America is up to the challenge – both at home and around the world – to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. Our oceans can underpin a sustainable food system, be a source of renewable energy and defend against the worst of climate change. The future of our planet depends on a healthy ocean, and we have no more time to waste.

Warren embraced the idea of a Blue New Deal during CNN’s 7-hour climate change town hall in September, where a fisherman asked:

The trouble is, is the Green New Deal only mentions our oceans one time. This is despite the fact that our seas soak up more than 25 percent of the world’s carbon. So what’s your plan for a Blue New Deal for those of us working on the oceans?

“I like that,” Warren said.

Adam Schiff Better Have a Warrant

Via American Greatness

It’s time to stop mocking the House Intelligence Committee chairman as some harmless tin pot. He’s dangerous—and Republicans had better wake up to his authoritarian tendencies while there is still time.

As chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, U.S. Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is supposed to be the lawmaker in charge of protecting Americans from the government snooping on our phone records. He’s not supposed to be using his position to snoop around in the phone records of Americans. We have no oversight committee to protect Americans from Schiff’s spying.

But, in his recent report on the inquiry into President Trump’s interactions with the Ukrainian government, Schiff disclosed that he has indeed been spying on Americans.

He wrote:

…phone records show contacts between [Trump attorney Rudy] Giuliani, [Giuliani associate Lev] Parnas, Representative Devin Nunes, and [journalist John] Solomon. Specifically, Mr. Giuliani and Mr. Parnas were in contact with one another, as well as with Mr. Solomon.  Phone records also show contacts on April 10 between Mr. Giuliani and Rep. Nunes, consisting of three short calls in rapid succession, followed by a text message, and ending with a nearly three-minute call. Later that same day, Mr. Parnas and Mr. Solomon had a four-minute, 39-second call. Victoria Toensing, a lawyer who, along with her partner Joseph diGenova, once briefly represented President Trump in connection with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, also was in phone contact with Mr. Giuliani and Mr. Parnas at the beginning of April.

In just one paragraph, Schiff subverts four important constitutional principles. How did he get phone records? It isn’t obvious from the report. He simply used the passive phrase, “phone records obtained by the Committee.” Schiff apparently thinks that the fruits of this spying constitute some kind of smoking gun surrounding Nunes, Giuliani, and certain figures in Ukraine. In one sense, I agree: Schiff fired at least four rounds into the Constitution.

Leslie McAdoo Gordon on Friday published a very thoughtful piece at The Federalist arguing that Schiff legally can (but politically shouldn’t) snatch phone records and publish them in his committee’s impeachment report. Gordon writes:

In reality, the government can obtain these records without taking any such extraordinary measures—and no judge even need be involved for Congress to get them. It can simply send a subpoena to the carrier.

This seemingly astonishing explanation exists because under current law, these records are not protected by any warrant requirement. First, based on Supreme Court precedent, obtaining these records is not a “search” under the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, which prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.

Meghan Rapinoe Wins Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year, It Doesn’t Go Well

Via Red State

U.S. Women’s soccer star (at least when the World Cup is going on) Meghan Rapinoe hasn’t been in the news lately. That wasn’t the case back in the summer, where her cheap, immature jabs at VP Mike Pence led to a polarization in a time that should have been nationally unifying. RedState reported on the details at the time.

Well, Rapinoe is back in the spotlight this week after being awarded Sports Illustrated’s “Sportsperson of the Year.” You’d expect it to be a time of joy and gratefulness for being given such an honor, especially when it’s obvious she never would have won without her virulent anti-Trumpism being put on display.

But nah, she decided to commit some woke on woke crime and accuse SI of being racist and sexist.

As one of just four women to win the Sportsperson of the Year award, she wasted no time in putting SI in the hot seat, saying in an acceptance speech, “Is it truth that I’m only the fourth woman deserving of this award? I don’t think so.”

“Is it true so few writers of color deserve to be featured in this publication? No. Is it true so few women’s voices deserve to be heard and deserve to be read in this publication? I don’t think so.”

A simple “thank you” would have sufficed, but whatever.

House Dems Unveil Surefire Plan To Get Trump Reelected

Via The Babylon Bee (Satire)

WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Democrats today announced a new plan to ensure Trump wins the White House again in 2020.

“We hereby unveil these articles of impeachment, which clearly lay out the undeniable fact that we will not win the White House back next year,” said Rep. Jerry Nadler. “We have found Trump guilty of absolutely nothing, but we already started this whole process and it would look bad to back out now, so here we are.”

“I declare here and now that Trump will be in the White House for at least another four years.”

Some questioned if this was the best strategy, but Democrats pointed out that with four more years of Trump, they will be able to generate far more outrage than if they took back the White House. “It’s a lot more fun to be extremists and scream at the sky for years and years instead of proposing policies that most Americans support and actually win elections.”
