Red Flag Nation: Anti-Gun Laws, Sanctuary Cities and the Second Amendment

By John W. Whitehead

We never learn.

In the right (or wrong) hands, benevolent plans can easily be put to malevolent purposes.

Even the most well-intentioned government law or program can be—and has been—perverted, corrupted and used to advance illegitimate purposes once profit and power are added to the equation.

The war on terror, the war on drugs, the war on illegal immigration, asset forfeiture schemes, road safety schemes, school safety schemes, eminent domain: all of these programs started out as legitimate responses to pressing concerns and have since become weapons of compliance and control in the police state’s hands.

Mark my words: gun control legislation, especially in the form of red flag gun laws, which allow the police to remove guns from people suspected of being threats, will only add to the government’s power.

These laws, growing in popularity as a legislative means by which to seize guns from individuals viewed as a danger to themselves or others, are yet another Trojan Horse, a stealth maneuver by the police state to gain greater power over an unsuspecting and largely gullible populace.

Seventeen states now have red flag laws on their books.

That number is growing.

As The Washington Post reports, these laws “allow a family member, roommate, beau, law enforcement officer or any type of medical professional to file a petition [with a court] asking that a person’s home be temporarily cleared of firearms. It doesn’t require a mental-health diagnosis or an arrest.”

In the midst of what feels like an epidemic of mass shootings (the statistics suggest otherwise), these gun confiscation laws—extreme risk protection order (ERPO) laws—may appease the fears of those who believe that fewer guns in the hands of the general populace will make our society safer.

Of course, it doesn’t always work that way.

Anything—knives, vehicles, planes, pressure cookers—can become a weapon when wielded with deadly intentions.

With these red flag gun laws, the stated intention is to disarm individuals who are potential threats… to “stop dangerous people before they act.”

While in theory it appears perfectly reasonable to want to disarm individuals who are clearly suicidal and/or pose an “immediate danger” to themselves or others, where the problem arises is when you put the power to determine who is a potential danger in the hands of government agencies, the courts and the police.

We’ve been down this road before.

Remember, this is the same government that uses the words “anti-government,” “extremist” and “terrorist” interchangeably.

Governor Coonman is Leading Virginia into Political Civil War

Via Big League Politics

Since the Charlottesville protests of 2017, the Left has been on a monument removal craze, which conservative Pat Buchanan noted in a recent column.

With Democrats in firm control of the state legislature, they will likely shove their PC agenda down Virginians’ throats.

Buchanan calls attention to how first-term Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton has criticized U.S. capitol statues of George Washington and Robert E. Lee.

Both statues have been significant artifacts of Virginian history for over a century at Washington, D.C.

Instead, Wexton wants to replace Lee with an African American hero from a list that she and Congressman A. Donald McEachin submitted.

Two of those on the list are lesser-known figures from the desegregation era of the 1950s. The third is the renowned historical figure Nat Turner.

In “The Americans: A Social History of the United States,” published in 1969, author J. C. Furnas gives a politically incorrect perspective to the life of Nat Turner:

In August 1831, Nat Turner, paranoid slave preacher and cunjur man, led his superstition-fuddled followers to kill fifty-five whites of all sexes and ages in an aimless terrorizing of Southhampton County in the southeastern corner of Virginia.

“The poor twisted creature could hardly have found a worse time to sharpen Southern fears of a slave rising,” wrote Furnas. The Virginia legislature ended up rejecting bill that would gradually phase out slavery by a narrow margin.

Turner would be tried and hanged after he was caught.

Nat Turner’s terrorist actions had effectively delayed emancipation.

Buchanan argued that “If the Virginia General Assembly votes to replace Robert E. Lee in the U.S. Capitol with a statue of Nat Turner, it will not be the unifying event Wexton imagines.”

However, things are getting heated on other fronts.

An Introduction to Q

Via Zero Hedge

Who is Q? What is Q? And, perhaps most importantly, why is Q?  Q and the ever-growing worldwide movement it’s inspired have been the objects of fascination, mockery and hatred, but of surprisingly little serious analysis.

Q first appeared in October 2017 on an anonymous online forum called 4Chan, posting messages that implied top-clearance knowledge of upcoming events. More than 3,000 messages later, Q has created a disturbing, multi-faceted portrait of a global crime syndicate that operates with impunity. Q’s followers in the QAnon community faithfully analyze every detail of Q’s drops, which are compiled here and here.

The mainstream media has published hundreds of articles attacking Q as an insane rightwing conspiracy, particularly after President Trump seemed to publicly confirm his connection to it.  At a North Carolina rally in 2019, Trump made a point of drawing attention to a baby wearing a onesie with a big Q.

In recent weeks, the tempo of Trump’s spotlighting of Q has accelerated, with the President retweeting Q followers twenty times in one day. Trump has featured Q fans in his ads and deployed one of Q’s signature phrases (“These people are sick”) at his rallies. The President’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has also retweeted Q followers.

Q has noted that the media never asks Trump the obvious question: What do you think of Q? To Q followers, the reason they don’t ask is obvious. They’re afraid of the answer.

Warren Rejects Peace Pipe Offered By Sanders

Via The Babylon Bee (Satire)

DES MOINES, IA—There’s drama afoot in the Democratic primary. Wanting to bury the tomahawk, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders walked over to Elizabeth Warren after this week’s debate to have a pow-wow. Having researched Warren’s culture extensively, Sanders produced an authentic Cherokee peace pipe he’d purchased on eBay for $14.99 after his grandkids showed him how to use eBay.

“How!” Sanders said, reading off some notes he’d scribbled on his hand. “I offer you peace pipe as token of friendship. Big anger go away into sky.” Sanders then made the shape of a bird with his hands and pantomimed it flying away, symbolizing their feud disappearing like the spirit of a buffalo moving on to join its ancestors.

But Warren slapped the peace pipe out of his hands and crossed her arms, a sign of rejection in her culture. “No peace pipe. You have angered the Great Spirit. Leave at once, paleface.” A crestfallen Sanders backed away slowly to go ask his grandkids about eBay’s return policy.

Warren was reportedly conflicted over the exchange, though, wanting to open herself up to Sanders’s friendship but not wanting to betray her culture. She is seeking advice from Grandmother Willow.
